First time I heard this album was reminiscent of the time I first heard John Zorn's Spillane. The music bounces around, is funny, sharp, very well played and all within a rich narrative. The sounds crashes through you one minute and is soft and gentle the next. For those with a short attention span. Love it.

Joey Negro-surely the uk's answer to Tom Moulton-has done it again with his latest Sunburst band project.Dripping with soulful dancefloor grooves and ace guest vocalists the cd is a lethal combination of 80's boogie and modern House.
After the intro,"Rough times" penned by the great Ashford and Simpson, gets things moving with vocalist Yolanda Wynns letting rip Chaka Khan style.You will believe that the paradise Garage has reopened after hearing this!
"Our lives are shaped" is a great soulful boogie cut that gets better with every play.
My favourite cut is "Put a lyric in it" which has a great mid tempo feel and sounds like it could have been on one of those old Streetsounds compilations(listeners of a certain age will know what I mean). ... Read More:

If you've heard Daft Punk's earlier album 'Discovery' then you'll know the incredible transformation that Daft Punk can muster from seemingly limited samples. Imagine that same genius transformation gifted to DP's already well-realised and much loved repertoire and you might just begin to understand what these punks have achieved. After hearing 'Alive' you'll realise that 'Discovery' was just a stepping stone to this marvel and the songs on it now sound like they were written by DP's infant children.

If you haven't had the pleasure of 'Discovery' then it's hard to know what to compare this to. Just imagine the music that Optimus Prime and Elita One make oily, robot love to and you're in the right sort of area.

I have bought this album for over a week now and I cannot believe what I hear. The music is so beautiful and soulful you can actually feel it touch you, the vocals are breath-taking. I cannot get over the tracks 'I Feel It' and 'So Beautiful'. They just get better each time I listen to it. This album is a most for people who truly LISTEN to music.

I HAD NOT HEARD OF BERES HAMMOND UNTIL 2 MONTHS AGO, WHEN HIS MUSIC WAS RECOMMENDED TO ME WHILST IN BARBADOS - I NOW HAVE 7 CDs OF HIS! THE RECORDINGS ARE ALL TOP QUALITY, AND THE LYRICS AND MUSIC EXCELLANT LISTENING. MY FAVOURITE ALBUM HAS TO BE 'BERES HAMMOND' WHICH WAS A 2004 PRODUCTION (BERES IN BOATER WITH MICROPHONE ON COVER). THE BONUS DVD WHICH COMES WITH THIS LATEST RECORDING IS, I ADMIT, A DISAPPOINTMENT, BUT REALLY DOESN'T MATTER.

What a great album! I shant harp on forever as tehre are plently of other reviews, but this really is brilliant. I only wish I could find other music to match this!

There's a most wonderful story about how I came across this album, but even without it, it's still a 5 star masterpiece.

I haven't bought this through Amazon but on digital download elsewhere, but I can tell you that if you like funky high energy house beats, then you'll love this album, mixed brilliantly with plenty of catchy samples this album goes all the way to making a superb purchase for anyone who loves a funky dance track.

Top notch! If in doubt, try a download site that let's you listen to a sample, you won't be disappointed, quite often I back my digital download up with purchase of the package product, this might just be one of those.

Reise, Reise

Bought this album on a whim, after bumping into it on here and seeing all the positive reviews. Very glad I did. It's surprisingly melodic and great to drive to. The only low point (for me) is Amerika which, because it's partly sung in heavily accented English, sounds a bit Eurovision. That apart it's fascinating stuff that bears repeated listening. If you've never bought music like this before don't be put off. I've immediately ordered most of their back catalogue.
