A fantastic album - worth the entry price for the first track alone. Everybody I've played "District" to is intrigued by it and most have gone on to buy the album. If you like "Give Up" (which I'm sure you will) try "Pixel Revolt" by John Vanderslice, particularly track 5: "Trance Manual".

Beautiful dance/rave culture/trance/pop/rock n roll euphoria.

this is an epic album, of gigantic proportions
the opener 'Movin on up' is a 70's rock style track with help from a gospel choir, jazz piano and chirpy guitars. then comes 'slip inside this house'. although not written by the scream, the bass guitar and percussion are beautiful, a gloomy yet booming song. 'Dont fight it feel it' is the most uplifting song ive heard. it plays into your brain and any fan of music will appreciate the singing.

the the highlight of the album 'higher than the sun' is a dub epic. althouugh on 4mins long it really will knock you socks off, i cant express just how cool and ice this song is, you have to hear it to realise ther beauty. ... Read More:

I love this, its my favorite holiday album. This album is modern yet you still feel there are traditional elements in this album. I bought this album a year ago and i'm glad i did because it still sounds just as fresh.

This is likely to be music for everyone! Clubs were still safe places, music had variety, and songs some became household names. This is probably one of the best CD's released in a very long time, as all the family can listen to it. It's not often my parents by buy CD's these days, but my mum always has this on now! Long live the 80's!

This always reminds me of (very) expensive bars, clubs and restaurants in Istanbul and Ankara where well heeled Turks would go and, well, pose I suppose (although that's never been a problem for Turkish women). So, you get the idea - this is an album 'designed' (or even destined) to be played in plush, soulless bars and clubs. It has a trippy-tango-lounge vibe going on and I do like the use of the accordion and violins and the subtle beats and electronic under current. The first three tracks are excellent, with the highlight being the opener "Queremos Paz". It's an interesting, worthwhile and inoffensive concept and should appeal to fans of the band 'Pink Martini' who, I would suggest, are non too distant cousins of Gotan Project. This is the CD I wanted...this is the best of Grace Jones. Forget her dizzy disco phase that preceded, and forget her sell out mainstream phase that followed - here we have all the best tracks from Grace Jones' collaborations with Sly and Robbie, where she produced her most dynamic, sensual and explosive music. Just listen to that tight-as-a-drum production on tracks like "Walking in the Rain", "Private Life" and "My Jamaican Guy", Grace's music has never been better.

I was also really pleased to see that this CD has given us the long versions of many of the tracks - previously only available on the cassette versions of the original LP's.
