I've wanted this CD just off the strength of The Dells' "It's All Up to You", which is the most gorgeous song I've ever heard. Typically, this compilation is unavailable in the States, and I can't buy it off of UK iTunes (where I got to hear a sample of each song), so I'm just going to have to buy it here. As a Yank who loves her Northern Soul, I gotta say that the British are first class when it comes to championing and cherishing good music.

I decided to take a walk in the past and buy this collection - it's superb. It's sing-a-long as every track is well known, well remembered. None of it has dated, none of it. The voices are superb, blending so perfectly on every track. My only complaint, it isn't long enough but then the CD player will keep repeating it until I stop it, so that isn't too much of a problem...
It's sunshine music. It's memories and good listening, it's sing-a-long and listenable, it's every cliché in the book and then some.
Buy it.

No surprises here, of course -- Enya didn't achieve new age superstardom by challenging anyone's expectations. This album is every bit as hushed, lovely, and soulless as everything else she's ever done; like a perfect angel food cake, it's sweet, soft, and utterly lacking in nutritive substance. There's nothing the matter with angel food cake, of course, and there's also nothing really the matter with The Memory of Trees, though its Druidic theme does smell awfully trendy (nothing was quite so hip as neopaganism in 1995), and it steers so strictly the same melodic and textural course she's been following throughout her solo career that you're tempted to wonder why anyone would want to spend the money on what amounts to a complete rehash of her earlier work. ... One might be tempted to call "Warm Leatherette" Grace Jones' debut album. She recorded three disco albums with Tom Moulton back in the late '70s, but none of them managed to give her a commercial breakthrough. This is by all means a truly phenomenal album by Grace. It's a mixture of genres. From rock to soul, and from new wave to country. And everything in between. It is mostly an album of covers, but Grace completely blows the originals out of the water. Her cover of the Normal's "Warm Leatherette" is stunning, and her cover of the Pretenders' "Private Life" makes the original seem completely irrelevant. But that is her ability. Tavares - The Greatest Hits

A great collection of timeless evergreen classics, from the days when singers relied on singing ability and not studio technology to sound good!

I love all the tracks on here, but was really disappointed to find that what is arguably Tavares best known song, "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" is not included. Well at least the original isn't included, what is offered in its place is perhaps one of the most dreadful, tacky 80's re-mixes I have heard. It sounded like Stock, Aitken and Waterman's collective mothers had been let loose in the studio!!!

I would love to know who makes the decision to include this kind of garbage on an otherwise great collection. Re-mixes are usually added to albums as bonus tracks, not replacements for the original. I still love ... Read More:
