A great collection of timeless evergreen classics, from the days when singers relied on singing ability and not studio technology to sound good!
I love all the tracks on here, but was really disappointed to find that what is arguably Tavares best known song, "Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel" is not included. Well at least the original isn't included, what is offered in its place is perhaps one of the most dreadful, tacky 80's re-mixes I have heard. It sounded like Stock, Aitken and Waterman's collective mothers had been let loose in the studio!!!
I would love to know who makes the decision to include this kind of garbage on an otherwise great collection. Re-mixes are usually added to albums as bonus tracks, not replacements ... Read More:

The title track has never been one of my favourite Abba songs and so that doesn't start this one on a solid footing, although there is no doubt that Abba are the best thing ever to come out of the Eurovision Song Contest apart from Secret Garden.
This has a similar feel to the first album, although the real hints of pop music writing genius are becoming evident in "Hasta Manana" one of their most endearing songs and a blueprint for so many pop songs that were to follow and "Dance (While the Music Still Goes On)". Sadly songs like "Sitting in the Palm Tree" and "King Kong Song" are dreadful and the kind of thing you would expect from trashy party groups like Black Lace. It's a tough call as to whether this is an improvement on Ring Ring. Perhaps ... Read More:

When Pink Martini opened the Sydney Festival this year I fell in love with China Forbes at least as a singer. This disc contains much that they performed & do so well. In fact I came home and ordered the CDS straight away and they don't disappoint!
Forbes & Pink M must be the only performers who can do Que Sera without you wishing they were Doris day!
Great disc as everyone else says - even greater band if you can catch them live - awesome sound and perfectionists in getting the balance spot on!
I hope I'll remember them and not just for singing and playing Brazil over a fire work show, need less to say Pink Martini won! Check them out on U Tube!

Micah P Hinson's fourth album - the first I've heard since his powerful debut `Michah P Hinson and the Gospel of Progress' - is an accomplished work and the sound of a prolific artist heading for an artistic peak. Produced by alt-rock mixing guru John Congleton, renowned for the dark gloss put on albums by the likes of Anthony & the Johnsons, Modest Mouse and Explosions in the Sky, `Micah P. Hinson and the Red Empire Orchestra' is somehow both expansive and concise, brooding but melodic. Much is made of Hinson's troubled past, and I imagine his record label see the value in backing up his cracked baratone with claims of former drug and alcahol addiction, time in prison and, um, chain-smoking, as if to add gravitas to his skinny geek looks. None of those claims of authenticity ... Read More:

This album is great fun from beginning to end. A lighthearted beat infused concoction this album is always entertaining and never dull. Even the cheesy cookery analogy doesn't tire and adds a bizarre kind of depth to this funky and upbeat album.
The guest vocalists add a dash of pedigree to the catchy tunes and while it is not going to be heralded as groundbreaking it is a cracking album that will never fail to add cheer to your day.
There are no low points with this record and I would advise it as a fail safe record for those people wishing to dabble in the murky waters of the hip hop world. I can guarantee you will not disappointed!

I love the original post-punk classic by the Passions, the epic power of it still blows me away. Let's say, that you wouldn't want just any old one covering this. Luckily it's in a safe pair of hands with the Pet Shop Boys producing it. They have a fine reputation for working with female artists, think Dusty Springfield. And Sam Taylor-Wood puts in a good vocal, but it's the sublime arrangements that seduce me more than her voice if I'm being totally honest. It's not quite as brilliant as the original, but I don't think anyone would expect it to be. But it's still a wonderful and very commendable attempt at updating it into a modern dance tune, and it's been covered very tastefully with a lot of love and respect. However, another act that could also have got away with doing this is Goldfrapp, ... Read More:

its so-so. all the tracks sound pretty similar though. But I'm not a major Hadouken fan.
If you like tracks like That Boy That Girl, Liquid Lives and Leap Of Faith then this isn't really for you........

At least in this genre-being grime. The Streets are great, Mike Skinner having such a unique style of, well i don't know talking, rapping? And Leo the Lion is just a great singer! The best song on here is propbably never went to church- a sad and moving song about mike's dad, and he pulls songs like this off just as well as he does great party songs like when you wasn't famous. I also really like Can't con an honest john as i think it's great and really easy to listen to.
Overall: A Good album, but Mike's voice get's a bit boring and repetitive towards the end, that's the only reason it drops a mark-highly reccomended
