I felt compelled to write a review of this abum having owned it for more than a year. It's constantly featured on my playlists even after all this time, and with good reason. Some other reviewers are totally missing the point of the configuration of these 3 cd's. They are only intended as a celebratory snapshot of Hed Kandi's glittering past and do a dam good job of it. I admit to being a long-time kandi follower but I will be perfectly ready to slate an album if it fails my expectations. This one however, doesn't. Quite frankly, I don't care that I don't get the full versions of all the songs - its just means they get to put more top quality tunes on without wasting time on intros. A great album for a newbie or a fan who wants a collection of ... Read More:

If like me you enjoyed Erlends Kings of Convenience albums but found them a touch too light and fluffy at times then this album may surprise you, because Erland is clearly in love with the 4x4 beats of techno and house. But this is no ordinary mish mash of repetitive beats. The mix spans lots of different styles from delicate electronica, and french pop to pounding techy-house and electro, but what makes the whole thing such a great listen is how much thought and effort has been put into it. Your views on this album may hinge on whether you love or hate Erlend Oye's voice as he sings on nearly every track. It should sound like a self-indulgent one-man karioke mess, but it doesn't. This method really works, and the resulting mix is all the better for ... Read More:

This is a fantastic electro house album, brought to us by Mark Doyle (the former HEDKANDI genius). This is the best album of my personal favourite from the HED Kandi selection; funky, original and uplifting!

This mix celebrates Sasha's popularity in the US and I feel that they must love him for a different reason across the pond.
Ever since hearing Xpander, I have been a massive Sasha fan. I think that he is one of the most talented electronic musicians ever, and his own work is absolutely fantastic. However, Sasha's commercial popularity will never result from his own artistry, but from his legend as a worldwide DJ. He is unquestionably one of the most popular DJs in the world, but I really don't think that this album does him any justice.
On the previous mix called Involver, Sasha remixed and put together a beautiful selection of 10 tracks that flowed perfectly from start to finish. It was the true definition of a sonic journey. ... Read More:

This is one CD that I keep going back to, about 7 years after I first bought it. Sweeping soundscapes, haunting, relaxing, all the cliches that you can come out with.
Release Date February 22, 1999
I probably listened way too much of it until almost got bored but overall this was the best album for me ever. Even better than Dark Side of the Moon (though not same genre of music). Its classy, fun, upbeat if anything. I did have to disable a number of tracks I didnt like but out of such huge selection it didnt feel like a loss. Still this brilliant album kept me awake many nights while I was building a few kewl websites - - Maybe the songs are older now but still you wont regret it - its way toooo cooool !!!!

If you've seen Goldie live then you'll understand his mixing skills (and most notably his ability to beatmatch) can often be described as patchy, but I find there are often those few inspired moments where it just seems to work for me. This certainly applies to this mix to some degree.
For starters, noone can discount the quality selection of dnb classics on offer here, especially the blend of old and new. I found disc 1 flowed quite nicely, but less so can be said about much of disc 2 which I found jarring and on the amateurish side at times (although it picks up towards the end).
The old Goldie magic is there in places, but most of the time I don't think his mixing comes across particulary well. It seemed little thought or planning had gone into how to make ... Read More:

It could be forgiven to think that a Dave Seaman CD would not only be touching the boundaries of progressive house and trance, but positively delving straight into them. This Global Underground release moves the series onwards and upwards with perhaps the most varied one to date. Tracks that wouldn't be out of place on his contribution to the excellent Back to Mine series start this whole mix off, then tunes as epic as James Holden's One 4 You and Digital Mind Control's scary Mindstate follow on nicely. Orbital's Illuminate adds a bit of techno to the end of the first CD, then the brilliant and funky Looky Thing by Slacker bring things to a close.
The second CD also has some great tracks, Consider the Ravens and Starwater being some of the highlights. Again, ... Read More:
