I alreay had a couple of CDMs and liked them, but when I heard this one I was hooked from the first bars of Jo Manji's opener. What a song, what an album! Ive now got almost all of the collections but this still shines above the rest. I think its the variety and musicianship which makes it such a tranfixing pleasure to listen to. Try it loud and on your best HiFi for maximum chill factor. I'll refund your money myself if you dont like it!
Release Date June 07, 1999
As with a good wine ageing well so this album from 1999 is tasting just great to me having stumbled across it in a sale only 9 years later! The Thievery Corporation excel in blending together so many 'world music' sounds so seamlessly over laid back trippy beats and this offering is just perfect. Its packed with so many good vibes you could confidently leave the whole 60 minutes worth on for the chillout phase of any cool party. Its perfect for any time of day really!

I don't normally write reviews on Amazon but after reading the top comment i felt that i needed to put the record straight. I'm a massive Deep Dish Fan and seeing as they haven't released a comp CD since Toronto, i was pretty excited when i learnt that Sharam and Dubfire were releasing seperate CD's. However, having bought both, i fell in love with Sharam CD but promptly return Dubfire to where it came!
CD1 is clearly the best with some truly memorable tracks. It's probably a tad more commercial than previous Deep Dish releases but not in a Ministry sort of way only that you probably wouldn't hear many of these tracks in a Deep House style club.
The second disc doesn't have quite so many stand out tracks but still ranks ... Read More:

I picked up this double CD on the basis that just about every Ministry collection I've bought was pretty good. I wanted something a little more 'spiritual' than all the other soft-trance/world-music stuff that has flooded the market and thought that Ministry would do a good job. Well, I'm so glad that I had faith because we play it regularly and never seem to tire of it. It's the right vibe for just about every occasion from dinner party to chillout. I particularly like the second CD and must confess that we play it in preference to the first. Across the spectrum from the haunting Caislean Oir (Clannad) to the soulful Rah (Natacha Atlas) and the very danceable Touareg (Le Duc) it all in all makes for very enjoyable listening that you'll play again and ... This album is fantastic. Every song is mixed in such a way it leaves you breathless. This cd is a must for every hard house club enthusiast. will certainly put a smile on ya face.

I wanted to like this compilation. The packaging and sleeve notes are excellent. However it is the music that matters and this where the problems start.
In essence you are buying someone elses mix album. If you come from a similar place and time then all well and good, otherwise you just might miss the point as I did. Even then why the Pink Panther and Hill Street Blues theme tunes? Haven't we heard them enough over the years!
On a positive note, some of the seminal house music tracks on disc 2 deserve to be re-visited. However, what is unforgivable is the poor compressed sound quality. MOS state that the songs were recorded from the vinyl originals together with the usual LP background noise to enhance the atmosphere. I would ... Read More:

I have to disagree, this was one of the best Annual Albums I truely cared about.
At that time Trance was having it's golden period...until Mid-2004, when we saw the return of tried-and-tested rockbands with wired names that have been dug up from the 60's
And to follow it up, the return of Hardcore also made Trance dissapear, having this album will bring you a time when you would not stop listening to Trance 24/7
One of these days, Trance will return to the big leagues better than ever!

It is time that Cafe Del Mar series called it a day - have pride in what you produce - Phil Mison and Rob De Bank from the excellent Real Ibiza series got up to number 7 and then left it at that - all classics. It's sad as Cafe Del Mar numbers 5 to 7 bring back so many happy memories and are classics.
