If pressed, I'd have to recommend the second cd slighly more than the first, but the overall standard is high. I've played the cd often since receiving it and, even on the ancient hi-fi system I have, it fills the room with warmth.
I'm amazed that this CD has only had one review, as this is a great compilation. To me this vol 3 along with vol 7 is the best of the cafe del mar series. Easy listening and a harmonious mix with some piano music a la cafe style, some light techno, a few dance tracks, some ambient and some jazzy tunes.

It's like all music albums/bands in life, they never reach their peak without making an average or poor album. In MoS' case, this probably is their most 'average album between the 1995-2000 era, before what I call the 'kids albums' era. But as a previous reviewer said, it's still better than the stuff being pumped out now.
Don't get me wrong, this isn't a bad album at all. I think I was just a bit suprised to hear it sounded alot more mellow and dull than the other 90's albums, but 1997 did have a very unique theme, and this album captures a mix of the dark acid house sounds (the excellent Somethin' goin on), with some good summer tracks (Like Sunchyme). I found Cd1 the most enjoyable, as it kept the house music and really captured 'that' ... Read More:

Superb album, better than the 1st and that was damn good too. after reading previous reviews slagging this album for being outdated, well thats what this album is all about, it caters for those old enough to remember and appreciate the best days in trance history REGARDLESS of whether you the buying public own any of the separate tunes on this album, previous trance albums released by other trance labels have put a few dozen decent tunes on their albums and then the rest have been crappy, unlike this album where each and every tune is superb. basically its ALL the BEST tunes on one album, making it the best trance compilation album released to date. (in my opinion!)
Release Date November 01, 1999
1999 has been by far the best year for trance. There were so many albums released that year - good and bad, its hard to know which are the best. Luckily, the annual millenium edition manages to 'just about' pick up on some of the best tunes during this year, and put them in an excellent mix.
Its understandable there have been mixed reviews - this was probably the 1st annual to be really commercial (naturally, for marketing around the year 2000) and so instead of having a mix of lesser known tunes, the annual millenium takes some of the more well known tunes throughout the year. But this isnt too bad - there are some excellent songs, Better Off Alone really is a classic song - simple but a very catchy and memorable. 9pm was another massive hit, ... Read More:

I must be getting old-I was well into this back in the day but found it a bit boring now. On the other hand I am increasingly into trance music...oh dear maybe I should see a doctor.
Release Date July 12, 2004
The tracklisting looks great, but its really not that amazing to listen to. Fair enough, I am biased (as any trance-addict would be!) but I still appreciate good house - but this wasnt all that exciting at all. Lots of old classics of course, but maybe some were a bit TOO old (?) and not so well-known... and not so good either!??
This album is difficult to get into, on the whole a bit too slow, and the mixing is quite dull as well. Overall, not very stimulating, and you'll soon be turning it off in favour of something like a Hed Kandi CD. Hope the follow-up is better!
