Jetstar have been releasing this series over a number of years, highlighting the tracks getting airplay in Jamaica.
Many of the tracks are good enough to be hits in the US and the UK, but don't get the airplay they deserve.
So to hear these gems you will have to buy this album.
Age is no barrier to making great music in Jamaica, and this collection opens with 52 year old Beres Hammond's melodic "Try if You Want", followed by Chuck Fender's contraversial "Gash Dem", banned by some radio stations for allegedly inciting violence.
Other highlights are George Dekker's take on the Marlon Asher track "Ganja Farmer", with it's laid back riddim and complaint of the way the farmer is treated by the establishment when they ... Read More:

Those of you who are familiar with Kalonji's super prolific output were probably expecting a mellower follow up to "Ain't gonna see us fall" in the same way that the "Life" album came after the dancehall infused "Stay Focused". The subject matter of this album is very similar to "Life" with its emphasis on love and righteousness, although the inclusion of "Streets be calling" would have been better placed on the "Brighter Day" album with its gun talk somewhat out of place on a much mellower effort. Stand out cuts include "One Love" on the majestic "I love King Selassie riddim, the channel one updated riddim on "It's possible" (which was also revisited for Capleton's wicked "Critics" choon, "Someone loves you" over the updated Sleng teng riddim ... As usual Rihanna brings it on top notch, with club sounds definitely smashing, sensational, and filled with infectious grooves sure to satisfy many danceaholics & more! This is from Rihanna's album titled, Good Girl Gone Bad and features a club mix that's on fire, hot! The album was geared to a more dance type theme taking a look into her personal growth as well. While many enjoyed her past R&B this will give an added enjoyment for the up-tempo fast paced music! If an artist stays exactly the same then that's not growth. Rihanna has shown that she can try different things and succeed in flying colors!
DON'T STOP THE MUSIC ALBUM VERSION [4:27] is definitely one of the catchiest songs off her album produced with a very positive ... Read More:
Recorded when the Beatles and Stones were well into experimenting with the sitar, this album is a classic introduction to their friend and collaborator's brilliance.
A superb soundtrack to any setting where peace, tranquillity and generally mellow vibes are required or desired. Simply play this and feel those vibes almost instantaneously.
It's a shame that albums were generally so much shorter in the 60's - this could easily have gone on forever!

This compilation is way outside the usual area covered by reggae reissue label Blood & Fire, i.e. 1970s roots & dub. Apart from the first track, which is not a cover but a wicked slice of organ-led instrumental funk, the album entirely consists of reggae cover versions of classic soul tunes. Now this could in consequence have been a really rubbish compilation, because nearly every Jamaican singer or vocal group has covered numerous soul songs, often perfunctorily, but the quality control here is of the highest order, with no tracks less than very good.
Stand out tracks on such a consistent album are hard to find, but personal faves include both the Ken Boothe tunes (his superb take on Ain't No Sunshine is as good a version as ... Read More:
