This cd is very different to there last release Skeleton Skeletron because its not quite as Gothic. The rich guitar sounds and superbe thuding drum beats are still there but some of the tracks are more optomistic and uplifting.Vote For Love ,Love Is As Good As Soma and Spine are especially so .The Return Of The Son Of Nothing though takes elements from two previouse releases Wild Honey and A Deeper Kind Of Slumber, the best Tiamat albums in my opinion perhaps due to the return of guitarist Thomas Petersson who did not play on Skeleton Skeletron after taking a break .This song creates an imediate sense of darkness with vocals only Johan Edlund could pull off-incredible.Take your time getting into this cd and you'll love it, it's a cracker.

I am a big fan of Covenant. I had it the week it was released, and still regard it as highly now, as I did when I first heard it. To pull this out of the hat, after producing the ground breaking Blessed are the sick, was quite some feat. Its here that opinion splits into two camps over Trey Azagthoth's 3rd disc.(not including 'Abominations...'). Some people say the production is awful, and that the ideas are rehashed B.A.T.S. concepts. Others, including myself, say "Phooey". This album has some of the finest drumming heard up to that particular moment in time (93)on any death metal album. The riffs on songs like Rapture, 'Pain Devine' and 'Vengeance Is Mine' are frankly genius. It seemed ... Read More:

This is my personal favourite Suffocation album and I am sure that most fans would agree with me too. This is because I can listen to it from start to finish without getting bored. Suffocation are "THE ORIGINALS" of brutal/technical death metal music and have been major influences on many bands around today. If I had to describe this band's music with one word it would be "intense". The production quality is also better than their previous releases which means you can hear all the instruments and vocals more clearly. If you like brutal death metal and don't own this album then you are missing out big time. This album definately deserves 5 stars and will always be one of my favourite death metal albums(and I have hundreds of metal albums!!) If your into extreme ... Read More:

This was the second moonspell album I bought after Sin/Pecado. So imagine my surprise upon hearing this cd. Gone are lighter more melodic rock anthems, replaced by what can only be described as absolutely, monsterously heavy dark/goth metal. It is almost a polar opposite of its predecessor. The cd showcases fast paced and mega slow/detuned music in a way that is dark, seductive and brutal. Ribeiro's vocals are stunning as he screams Lustmord or lustily breathes Can't Bee. There is no weak track on this offering. Butterfly effect will always be in my top ten in a collection of over 700 rock cds, that is testament to the sheer strength of material on offer here.

This compilation album collects 4 early Napalm Death E.P.’s onto CD (the other reviewer seems a little confused – all these tracks were previously issued separately, including the ‘4 newly recorded tracks’ (ie: the Mass Appeal Madness EP), so unlike some Earache compilations I wouldn’t rate this as a rip-off). Chronologically the album is back to front, but the earliest material here are the 6 tracks from Napalm’s split single flexi-disc with S.O.B: good stuff, but typically of the early Dorian/Steer/Embury/Harris line-up this is sheer speed orientated material that bludgeons the listener but doesn’t do much else. The 6 track Mentally Murdered EP (which had already been issued as hidden bonus tracks on Napalm’s Harmony ... Read More:

Because Slaughter of the Soul is not some weird exercise in industrial soundscaping. Nor is it yer typical death metal album, as this was a definitive album in the Gothenburg movement of the mid 90s, namely melodic death metal. This new style merged the ferocity and savage vocals of death metal with the melodic side of the NWOBHM bands. As this was one of the first in the movement, it would exert a large influence on later MDM bands and also on the metalcore subgenre.
Anyway, enough of that. You probably want to know about the music here. The record owes a lot to thrash metal. Most songs are played fast as hell with plenty of killer high-speed riffs. Drummer Adrian Erlandsson absolutely pounds away at his kit while dual guitarists Anders Bjorler and Martin Larsson ... Read More:

You will be hooked to this album as soon as you hear the intro! And then the first track kicks in to life and thing just get better and better. Abducted is one top quality piece of work! Roswell 47 is a classic track and the whole album just flows from one quality track to another. I've owned this album for about eight years now (it was originally released in 1996) and i still dont get bored of hearing it. A good addition to any album collection!
