I'm not too sure why no one has written a review of this yet, or why it's unavailable..but what I DO know is that this is an important ND album that's definately worth owning. Between the 45 second harsh songs on Scum and the "return to form" of Order of the Leech, ND diversed intensely in their sound, and I think this is a great example of their creativity. Some would say it's boring and uninspired, namely the hardcore metalheads who just look for the fastest riffs and the most brutal drum sound, and no, this isn't the best Napalm album, but it deserves a listen at least.
Find it at all costs! Try and get the Digipack version for the bonus tracks [which are also very good]

Deicide shakes you to death!
Don't ever forget the worlds heaviest band and their early work. The Album bursts in with Satan spawn the Caco demon. The bleating (not animal pain, just normal goat/ sheep noise) at the start adds to the build up. Remember this album was cutting at the time and the contrasts from animal noise to utter oblivion guitar are sublime.
Bentans vocals, sound like gargled cut glass sung by a mass murderer, his utter distain hate and violence are well felt. Think Lemmy from Motorhead if he was born later and more dark.
Don't expect to like this album. Its like Captain Beefhearts Trout Mask replica, its there to be in your collection and be played occasionally. ... Read More:

Beautiful arrangements of meloncholy yet sweet, melodic metal. Great solos, riffs, and singing. Much better than their latest disappointing offering, The Cold White Light. This is Sentenced at their peak, giving 100% to every song, you can hear the time and effort put into every track.
Only negative points: Production is not perfect, but nothing a basic bit of tonal/equaliser adjustment can't sort out. Lyrics aren't great, English isn't their first language, but is still probably their best stuff.

Cradle's other albums are all amazing with stories being told over the space of all the tracks. each album comes together to form a unity of sound.....but this "best of" album lacks it entirely. i agree with previous reviewers in that each fan will have their favourite songs or albums and that the whole point is that each album sounds individual and unified like a story. so putting songs from different albums together doesnt really work...dont get me wrong..Cradle rock!!! but at least buy their other albums first...this is definatley good for first time filthers though. Im a devoted fan and i dont own this album..just get all the others instead...much better!!!!

The Red In The Sky Is Ours really is awful. This album is badly produced and badly performed. I don't think that's unfair to say as they had only been together for a year when it was recorded, and this album showcases all the hallmarks of a band rushing into the studio before they're ready. The music is dreadful and wailing, the vocals unbearably coarse, the guitars tinny and the drumming sloppy. ATG guitarist Anders Bjorler himself is critical of the album, calling the production "weird" and "very weak" and the songwriting "over the top" and "very strange". I urge you NOT to listen to the purists who only rate this album because its the first. Even as a curiousity this release has no value whatsoever. You're probably sick of hearing it, but save your ... Read More:

Some great bands start off slowly before woking themselves up to their best material, others release such inspired debuts they spend the rest of their careers trying to match them. The Ten Commandments is rightly considered to be one of the all time classics of death metal. One of the second wave of US death metal bands, Malevolent Creation instantly became one of the most brutal outfits around with this release. This album has less blast-beats than their later work, but still sounds shatteringly brutal over a decade later thanks to the brilliant production by Scott Burns, and Bret Hoffman delivers some scorching vocal lines. The band may have got more technically proficient, but they have rarely matched the quality of the song writing here. For death metal ... Read More:

at the gates are a band that have influenced so many great bands with their ability to fuse savage metal with melody and without them we wouldnt have in flames, soilwork, darkane etc so it is easy to believe that at the gates are flawless and for the majority of their cds that is the case but with fear i kiss the burning darkness there is something not quite right.
Granted the production is poor but so is alot of classics like darkthrones a blaze in the northern sky,it appears to me after a few listens that this is almost an album of b sides or something, the songs dont gel and create the masterpiece that we expect, some songs just appear for the sake of it i believe and if im wrong then i will admit im wrong but that appears to be the genral feeling from the other ...
