Dusk and Her Embrace

CD-Charts > Music > Death Metal
by: Cradle of Filth

Release Date January 21, 1997
I'm amazed that a band so young could produce a work so accomplished as Dusk and Her Embrace. Cradle Of Filth are a band I've grown to love over the years and this release is definitely top of their discography. The eerie but beautiful intro of Humana Inspired To Nightmare is one of the best Cradle openers and sets the mood perfectly for the rush of heaviness on Heaven Torn Asunder. Dani Filth's vocals are the most evil I've ever heard, in fact I'd say this was the album he pushed himself to the limit on. The guitar melodies and riffs are amazingly good and where the odd solo appears it's a joy to listen (see if you can hear the nod to Iron Maiden of a few of them). The drumming is tight and precise as I've ever heard and the vocal passages ... Read More:

CD-Charts > Music > Death Metal
by: Malevolent Creation

Release Date June 28, 2004
After numerous line-up changes a relatively settled Malevolent Creation return with the same line-up as The Will to Kill (only the 2nd occasion they’ve managed to hold the same line-up for two albums in a row!) with their 9th studio album Warkult. Now well over a decade after their debut at this stage of their career most bands would show signs of flagging, but here Malevolent Creation sound on fine form, still pumping out their own vicious brand of death metal. Musically Malevolent Creation have never really been a band to experiment, so their brand of brutal death metal will be familiar to anyone who’s ever heard them before, but lyrically this album is a bit of a departure, being a ‘concept album’ in the fact that every ... by: Cannibal Corpse

Release Date October 01, 1999
This album is simply bloody marvellous (ironic). I loved the title track and I feel it makes great family listening in the car. My Dad is even more of a fan than me now and my Mum's really getting into it too. The subtle vocals and harmonies make this music absolutely epic. Waking up to these guys after a heavy trip on my farm in Somerset is simply divine. I recommend this album over anything else, even slipknot. Also if you like this sort of music I'd recommend 1. Jack Johnson and 2.Dusty Springfield. Thanks for your time. Love you guys.

CD-Charts > Music > Death Metal
by: Venom

Release Date February 26, 2008
Soft spot for this compilation, it being my first ever thrash album (back in 86, I bought it on cassette - can still see the cover with Cronos!)
It's pretty crude by todays standards - little in common with the Black Metal acts that followed; no keyboards, the satanic lyrics are often slightly tongue in cheek, and there isn't the icy cold feeling of the likes of Emperor or Dimmu Borgir! Not to mention technical ability!
What you do have is a set of songs that are catchy with conventional structures that are more Punk Metal than anything else. The youth of today, raised on Satyricon & Immortal will find this fairly tame & a little shoddy, but back in it's day, it was fast & nasty! And it persuaded me to buy Master Of Puppets....

by: Emperor

Release Date June 12, 1997
This isn't just the finest Black Metal CD ever made, its one of the finest records ever made by anybody. Emperor's debut was one of those CD's you thought could never be suppassed. But it was, and in spades. The songs, the musicianship, the production. None of the bands subsequent releases ever quite came close to their first two CD's. Simply incredible
