This album is where you start if you're a casual fan only. The version of "Don't Take My Coconuts" is simply not as punchy as the version on The Coconuts solo album "Don't Take My Coconuts" (only ever available on CD in Japan). The version of "Maladie D'amour" here is the one that's featured on Kid Creole & The Coconuts debut album "Off The Coast Of Me", (again, not the version featured on The Coconuts solo album). Also, the version of "Me No Pop I" by Coati Mundi is only the single edit ("Que Pasa" is missing). My advice is to check out the Island Records remastered versions of "Off The Coast Of Me", "Fresh Fruit In Foreign Places", "Tropical Gangsters" and "Doppelganger" to get a true taste (and the full length versions) of the unique ... There are lots of compilations but this is not the artists fault. There is a huge difference between this and all the others. This is album is unique and like no other greatist hits album. This album contains on record and transfered 3 sides of non stop music and one side of extended remixes of One the radio and No more tears of over 11 minutes with Barbra streisand - one of the best diva duets ever and beats all the remakes. This is also written by the guy who gave babs "the main event" and "last dance".
all her hits are cleverly mixed into each other with percussion and music overdubs and even changing of pace. it would be great to see all her 12 versions mixed in like this.
You want a Donna Summer night out then put ... Read More:

Cover looks nice... But I was very disapointed by this collection... Back to Love series were never my favourites from the Hed Kandi label - however I admired how unique this series was at releasing hard to find tracks from the 80's, and really did help people to re-discover tracks that they have heard before from somewhere, but were never in the commercial lime light fully - which made the series in itself exhibit some form of unique underground feel which was admirable whether or not you preferred other Hed Kandi genres, because it gave the compilation it's "individuality" which is MISSING a lot in club music these days... Does this Back To Love provide that?? Hell no, of course not, it's a ministry of sound release, therefore has tracks that are, ... Read More:

Make no mistake - Bucks Fizz made some of the best pop music of the Eighties. So why only the three stars?
Well...one star is docked because of the slightly odd running order (compilation CD should always sequence tracks chronologically - end of), and because the powers that be have seen fit to leave two chart singles off the compilation completely (admittedly the two lowest charting, but it seems churlish considering there is space on the disc).
The second star is docked becasue of the frankly ropey booklet and presentation. Okay, so Bucks Fizz were a bit cheesy in their initial incarnation, but did the packaging really have to be so...naff? No photos, no essay, not even any lyrics...just the odd comment on (selected) tracks from Cheryl ... Read More:

I still remember the first album i bought with by own pocket money when i was eleven way back in 1989 - it was Bananarama's The Greatest Hits Collection. From then on, i was hooked on them. This album, "The Very best of Bananarama" sums up their lifetime of work and success. From "It Ain't What You Do" right up to "More More More" - all these are British pop at it's best in the 80's and early 90's. Bananarama was more than a girl-band - they were an icon that sets a standard for all all-girls bands that came and went after them. Every single track here define how great the Nana's were. Although towards the end of their heydays the hits have slowed down, the songs are still worth listening to. The best thing about this collection is the CD2 which features mostly 12" mixes of ... EWF laid out an abundance of great classic albums during the 70s, 80s and even into the 90s but this one here's my favourite of them all. It's probably because it's the first EWF album I ever bought. I remember seeing all the happy people on "Soul Train" dancing to "In The Stone" back in the day and falling immediately in love with their sound. I got the record shortly after and have been an EWF fan ever since. 1979 was a really good year for music.
As I suppose most folk know already, back then, EWF were the quintessential band, complete with vocalists, rhythm section and horns. I just adore the sound of Maurice White's voice. Philip Bailey's I can take or leave but I do admit the two voices complement each other incredibly well. The album had quite a number of ... Read More:

I bought this album on Marketplace because it was going cheap and I loved Smalltown Boy by Bronski Beat... little did I know that it was one of the best albums I've ever had.
Jam packed with dance floor anthems and political chansons, Jimmy's single collection is a must have. Reading the back of the box and the song list, I must admit that many of the titles weren't immediately familiar but after one session with the CD I realised that I knew every tune. Each one of them is fantastic, whether it be the uplifing YOU ARE MY WORLD, the thought provoking AIN'T NECESSARILY SO or camp classic COMMENT TE DIRE A'DIEU. This album won't disappoint.
I just want to know where Jimmy is now and why he's not still charting - he could just re-release some of the singles ... Read More:
