How often do you find an album in which there are no 'filler' tracks? Answer: very rarely. This is one of those albums.
As someone else said in another review, ignore all of the myths you've heard about drum 'n bass being mindless and for junkies. Amon Tobin is much cleverer than that, and as a result, the album contains a mix of everything. Drum 'n bass with menacing 'melody' lines, jazz which could have come straight out of a 30's jazz club had it not had a heavy, but catchy beat laid down on top of it, and even a bit of bossa nova and other brazilian music styles, hailing back to Tobin's birthplace.
Its getting on for 9 years since this was released, but i'd still listen to it rather than the trash that gets put in the charts ... Read More:

I have a few of the Bar De Lune CD's on Beachwood record label, and have heard the ones that I don't own. This on by far is my personal favourite. I have to say that if you like Buddha Bar and Nirvana Lounge CD's, then these may also interest you. That said, I feel that the Bar De Lune range is a lot more formulatic that Buddha Bar and Nirvana Lounge, but when you consider the fact that Krishna Beats is half the price or thereabouts, it makes a lot more financial sense to opt for this CD.

The style is (as you can guess my the label) music that is dance orientated, but with a mainly Asain vibe. That said, some of the tunes have Latin, or African influences too.

This is basically a gathering together of all of Ram records best work onto a 2 disk compilation. The fact it has an unmixed and mixed cd will be very useful to any DJs out there, but for listening at home this compilation is a huge let down.

The problem is the fact it is a compilation of Ram's work. Sounds strange but the fact is its never going to be a classic mix compilation if its limited to one record label. Their are a small handful of classics tracks on here which as I say will be useful to any cd DJs. However, the remaining tracks are repetitive, unimaginative and are just poor filler tracks. Go Plastic

This music is awesome. But it's also weird and tough to listen to. If you're a fan of jungle/breaks/garage/electronica/Aphex Twin/Chris Morris then this is for you.

Squarepusher breaks down every little part of the beat spins it round and does almost everything to it apart from destroy it (and even then there are exceptions!) The result is a acid-fuelled frenzy of beats that somehow fit into place. It's like putting together a jigsaw puzzle to get a picture that's different from the one of the box! Somehow it shouldn't work but it does.

The fist few listens makes it seem a little souless...but there are moments of mellowness and ease. Although it's certainly not for everyone, connisuers of electronica and production will have a blast. ... Read More:

The Godfathers of Drum N Bass Fabio a Grooverider make there first appearance on a Drum and Bass Arena album and this album shows way they are called the godfathers of DnB.

Fabio's mixs his jazzy and funky bass lines and beats and Grooveriders darker and distort bass lines.

Before hand i wasn't too keen on Grooveriders taste but now im starting to like it and respect his taste while Fabio presses the right buttons for me.

Buy this album if your a big fan of DnB or a regular BBC Radio 1 listener to Fabio a Grooverider you know what your in for.

The Emperor's New Clothes

This album is absolutely amazing, mindblowing, sick and generally unbeleivable. Tom Withers is clearly up there with some of the best producers not just in dnb but in electronic music in general.

i have been listening to dnb for years now and have piles and piles of albums and compilations from 1992 to the present. This album has gone straight into the top five dnb cds i own and i own nearly every classic dnb album (amon tobin, teebee, high contrast) , i have had difficulty coming to terms with how good this album is.

The problem with the review above is that the reviewer is only into one style of drum and bass, to only like one style of dnb (goldie/metalheadz which i also love) is somebody who doesn't appreciate music and is clearly only into ... Read More:

Back to the Old Skool Drum & Bass

Quite frankly I don't know what more needs to be said about this album, just look at the tracklisting. The majority of the tracks are all time jungle classics plus it features tunes by artists who back in the day weren't afraid to take a few risks in their music production (Dillinja, Lemon D, J Majik etc). Unfortunately there are a few dodgy tunes on the cd as well. Rockafella Skank, Spaced Invader, Love Is Not a Game; can somebody explain to me how these tunes are old skool ??
Also the mixing is a bit uninspired, just simple fades from one song to another. It sounds like it was done by a machine with no soul behind it.
So to sum it up, definitely buy this album, you won't regret it. the good tunes more than out weigh the bad ones.
