After the last album, which in parts was a corker, and always interesting, I have to say that Fuzion is a big letdown. With the exception of one of the tunes, every track shoots its bolt in the first 90 seconds, then it's loop to fade for the next 7 minutes. For the opener 'Burning', make that 11 seconds. Peshay has had a hand in some of the finest d'n'b ever made, going back to the very start of the genre, but this sounds tired and lazy. The comparison with High Contrast does the Welsh wizard no justice at all. I would rather listen to True Colours backwards, than Fuzion forwards.

This is a short CD - 45 mins, 6 tracks. I bought this for only two of the tunes; Black Domina and Two Masks, after a long search.

These tunes are magic. Some really dark, hard, aggressive, energetic d+b, but the breaks are not just standard (what's it called?) 'techstep' loops; they are really cut-up and hard to follow, intelligently sequenced drums which will have you listening for weeks and trying to figure-out. You'll go mad, just trying to count the beat on your fingers.

Most of the other tunes are just as dark, but not particularly involving. However the CD is worth it (and almost worth five stars) for these two tunes alone. Black Domina is one of the finest ten tunes I have ever heard.

The interesting story behind its record is that it was banned in Germany after the issueing of a couple of hundred copies. The reason? The use of the Nazi swastika on the original artwork, despite its anti-fascist context ( illegial in all cases). One thing that can be said is that it did pave the second issue of this work of a very contraversial artist.

Anyone familiar with CD2 on Empire's "Intelligance and Sacrifice" album will know how successful Empire is with sonics. However, in the case of this record, they are used to opposite effect, Instead of the chlostrophobia on CD2, "Generation" is a rapid that spiralls through distortion into a cleaner effect. Late Night Blues is possibly the finest chilled d'n'b it is possible to imagine. Matched only by Liquid Funk it is a magical journey into Budland. CD one is an experimental jazz trip and a worthwhile listen, but CD two is Big Bud in his element. Infinity + Infinity was a good release, but this blows it out of the water. Funky, chilled and beautiful. Personal highlights..... Hypnosis, State of Mind, Pure, Return of Spiritman.

A Good Looking and damn good sounding record.

When We Were Young : Ltd.Ed - Digi

I bought the Dusted album off the back of one review and the fact that I liked the picture on the cover, and I don't often do that kinda thing. It didn't dissappoint. Written by Rollo of faithless (who I'd never heard before), it also has some tracks cowritten by his sister Dido (showing the same songwriting prowess as on No Angel). And the music is amazing. This isn't one for your dance lovers - this trancends the boundaries, just as Moby has done it includes absolutely brilliant songs. I'll stop raving now, go and buy it yourself and you'll see what I mean.
