i dont posses the origonal jungle sounds cd, but this is good cd i must admit on cd1 it is a bit annoying when the mc's come in over the top but darrison is far better than mcmc. the sencond cd is were it redeems itself 13 unmixed tunes that for dj's are usful with unheard fresh tracks and even for me some unheard Adam F tracks. i got this cd for £3.99 and it was worth every penny.

This album needs no introduction. The massive anthems 'call to mind', 'satellite type 2' and 'how you gonna feel' are included. Every track is superb. My favourite though is 'Emily's smile'.
The only downside is that 'talk to frank' isn't included. But nevertheless, all DNB heads shouldn't need encouragement to purchase this album. It should be automatic.

If there was a 'problem' with the original New Forms it was that although it opened a lot of new doors for the drum'n'bassy side of electronic music, it rarely if ever broke out into full-on actual drum'n'bass. It was more jazzy and abstract, often having stretches of build up that would lead into more build up, then kind of nothing... These new 're-licks' are effectively VIP remixes of the originals and they all sound designed for the dancefloor, rather than the headphones/beard-stroking room. For example 'Brown Paper Bag' is transformed from a monolithic 9-minute prog-jazz freakout, to 4 minutes of punchy jump-up (complete with an MC), but it still retains its weird, dark edginess. Likewise, if the original of 'Heroes' was a bit too downtempo ... Read More:

This album contains some of the finest d+b ever - perfectly mixed, well-spaced, mental aggressive breaks which are intelligently cut up and dealt with, really minimal, expert use of synths, samples and bass. It works really well. Like only the best d+b, you will want to be up dancing and sat listening at the same time.
However he asks a bit much of us with 'Aleph 1' - the separate melody, bass and drum tracks all seem out of phase. I like that kind of stuff but this one is a bit too difficult for me.
He loses the plot with '124', and descends into some other random style of music which is not good at all, lame slow beats, american-sounding.
'Form and Function' contains some similar (if a little harder) d+b, and some ... Read More:

London Elektricitys's debut album Billion Dollar Gravy somehow combined golden nuggets of soul, jazz & funk synth-lines and soundscape-backgrounds, with some of the slickest D&B beats to be found anywhere, resulting in the most accompished album by a country mile to come out of this new, up & coming subgenre of Drum & Bass. It was a truly landmark record which drew in new Drum & Bass fans from far & wide who perhaps had hated Drum & Bass before when it sounded too garagey. Here was the NEW modern, musically-accomplished direction for D&B to head in.
So the followup album is bound to be a flop right? Wrong! Fans of BDG would immediately say that track for track, Power Ballads is a stepup in quality and creativity. ... Read More:

Billion Dollar Gravy is flawless example of the reasons why drum and bass music stays afloat. When the forces of chaos try to shake the foundations of electronic music, rest assured that these guys will still be in the studio putting their heads together. This album is an ode to their professionalsim as both live performers and studio heroes. This is s prime portion of rolling, jazz-tigned drum and bass with some glorious vocals thrown in for good measure. You c wake up to this album, drive your car to it or even just walk about town to it, but whatever you do, you'll do it twice as fast! Technically the prodction is up there with High Contrast and the forgotten heroes of the moving shadow records crew (Who really started this movement). Uplifting and inspirational. Read More:

This album marks 4 hero's shift from the sounds of drum and bass (which they were at the fore-front of, basicly inventing the genre), to the sounds of what has come to be known as "nu jazz". It was one of the first nu jazz LPs, and is respected as a classic within the scene, as well as gaining much praise from the wider music community.
As with other styles, there is a lot of crap modern jazz music made for the dance floor or for the "lounge", but this is where the real goods are found. This album is full of the highest quality musicianship: Spectacular, unique atmospheric sounds, original, high quality live and electronic jazzy beats, and beautiful vocals. The layering of sounds is precise and skillfuly compiled, and hense there is so much to appreciate. The production is ... Read More:

Having read some of the reviews here, I am not sure if I will be able to sway prospective buyers one way or the other. I get the feeling that OK is an album that you are going to be very impressed with or find it "okay". However, what I can say about the album is that Talvin Singh is a great producer and collabortor (I am quite a fan of the Madras Philiharmonic Orchestra). Like many others, I too like the up beat Sutrix, I like the slightly more downtempo sound of Butterfly (as heard on so many Cafe Del Mar and Ministry of Sound-esque chill-out CD's). I have been a fan of world fusion for quite a while, and I think OK has done a pretty good job of getting world fusion a wider audience.
What I would like to add is if you are one of the people who like Talvin Singh, then try ... Read More:
