Let me start by declaring that I am a big fan of Goldie and his many fine moments. His remixes can be awesome (check out the "Completely trashed" remix of "Milk" by Garbage!). I loved the first album. But "Saturnz Return" is another thing altogether, and a real curate's egg. CD1 is the "very bad" option: "Mother" is basically a dull, self-absorbed, 60 minute dirge with a percussive section in the middle. The first five minutes alone is white noise, and not even interesting white noise at that. Then come mournful strings for a quarter of an hour and Goldie wailing over the top of it. A near perfect work, well done Calibre! This album has not left my mp3 player for months, each track just grows and grows on you. Raw, funky, soulful and unique, the beat for every tune is different which is rare in this scene. Sublime hooks and gorgeous basslines!!

but its near golden... real progressive in style (for all non- dance music heads, who are the ones who SHOULD start by peeping albums like this one, by progressive i mean it combines a lot of different snippits n' styles like trance, electro, house, soulful vocals, lots of sweet organic piano/flute/horn samples- ALL UNDER THE PLATFORM OF DRUM N BASS. It contains many good indicators of where dnb is going, or ought to go, at the same time its real "mainstream" (not extreme or niche-specific) in style, and his style in track production is still diverse/dynamic. Very listenable on a practical level compared to most dancefloor dnb..."return of forever" may wind up on a coke commercial or something. there is a lot of, and I mean A LOT OF truly awful Jungle and Drum & Bass cds out there, most are vomit-worthy the songs are so bad. There is only a few, genuine, quality D&B gems that are worthy of prising money out of my wallet. This is yet another which is a big fat waste of cash.

Yes the opening tracks on both cds are classics, but that does not make up for filling the rest of the album with dog poo, all the other tracks are just complete nonsense. Stupid noises, poor poor songwriting and repeatedly annoying beats. When the title track is a real classic I suppose it makes so called artists think they can stick out an album to cash in on one songs appeal. Billion Dollar Gravy

Billion Dollar Gravy is flawless example of the reasons why drum and bass music stays afloat. When the forces of chaos try to shake the foundations of electronic music, rest assured that these guys will still be in the studio putting their heads together. This album is an ode to their professionalsim as both live performers and studio heroes.
This is s prime portion of rolling, jazz-tigned drum and bass with some glorious vocals thrown in for good measure. You c wake up to this album, drive your car to it or even just walk about town to it, but whatever you do, you'll do it twice as fast!
Technically the prodction is up there with High Contrast and the forgotten heroes of the moving shadow records crew (Who really started this movement). Uplifting and inspirational.

"Don't Worry" is the most perfect blend of oldschool sounding breaks and tabla rhythms I've ever heard. Some of the other tunes are really good too, very stripped down and basic, relying mostly on tabla and breaks, without wasting much time. As a result though, some of the album gets a bit heavy and perhaps repetitive, especially the slower tracks. Some of the faster tracks are really manic. Perfect production, finely balanced between the clarity of the `indian' samples, and the power & grittiness of the bass & breaks. This is how it should be done.

Feed Me Weird Things

I won't repeat other reviews in describing the nature of the music, which I'm no expert in. However I would thoroughly recommend this album as one to get you started on Squarepusher. I bought Hard Normal Daddy and Ultravisor first and found them harder to get into. Feed Me Weird things is more consistently appealing, with interesting fast jazzy beats and melodies. With the exception of a few seconds of noise somewhere on the album, I would even play it in polite company without fear of "that weird experimental track" having them complain. If you're wondering how to get into this genre of music, go for this album!

Yeah this CD is really bloody good 4 those that know the true junglist vibe... This CD is a real 'must-buy' for those original jungle heads out there!

The selection of tunes on this CD are 'spot-on' and really catch the mood and atmosphere that real junglists only know, but if you like jungle anyway this brings out the tunes that maybe 'present' jungle heads don't know about.

This really is a CD which actually contains proper original junglist vibes, the real deal in the original jungle sound.
