Mercy MercyCD-Charts > Music > Drums by: Buddy Rich Release Date November 24, 1997 Arguably the best of the 1960's/70's Buddy Rich Big Band albums, this features typically full-on, exciting playing by the band. The full band sound is quite loud and brassy but manages to stay just the right side of being too harsh. There is some fine guitar soloing by Walt Namuth and in fact all the soloing is of a high standard. Buddy's drums are recorded very well and his playing is great. Channel 1 Suite is probably my favourite Rich piece, with some memorable tenor from Don Menza and Buddy's thrilling soloing at the finish. |
