However, the music is quite brilliant, with Clifford Brown playing beautifully, both in warm ballads and hot up-tempo... Also, this is a nice mix-up of standards and originals. This music, while performed at virtuoso level also sounds as it might be quite accessible to the jazz beginners... The rest of the Max Roach All Stars is also really fine (Richie Powell-p, George Morrow - b, Harold Land-ts), with plenty opportunity to strut their stuff...
