I was in a music shop and ended up chatting to a man about house, techno and broken beat for about an hour, he recommended me this mixtape and it's fantastic. Daddy G only plays absolute bangers, my favourite tunes are the French cover "Non Non Non" by Melaaz, "Armagideon Time" by Willie Williams and the Oakenfold remix of "Unfinished Sympathy". The mix does have an overall dark feeling, but it's perfect to dip into or listen through, whatever your mood. It starts off downtempo and quite subtle but builds up with tunes such as Johnny Osbourne's "Budy Bye" and drops into some heavier breaks towards the end courtesy of Leftfield. It's worth bearing in mind that several of the tunes on this mix are either dubplate mixes or very hard to find - only ... Read More:

Owning all four of the Y4K's, I think I am qualified to pass judgement on this album as right up there with the best. With a similar feel to Tayo's slightly commercial version, but not as funky as FreQ Nasty's or as dark as Koma and Bones', this album really hits the spot when the beats get kicking.
By stating that they are slightly commercial, I am not saying that this album, or Tayo's, would do well in The Charts, just that they are more likely to appeal to a wider range of people. The driving breakbeats that Barry Ashworth has used as a constant feature of his music will please most dance music fans, and the occasional funk additions will gratify more hardcore breakbeat fans, such as myself.

Futuristic, metallic dub from 1981. Very groovy and punchy with sonic depth charges galore, but for all the raw power this is a graceful and free breathing record, with radical decontructions and seamless dub-wise effects and edits. The recording quality is slicker than average too.

The album has new tracks from the Dubstep scene, featuring Skream, Burial, Scuba, Digital Mystikz, Kode 9, King Midas Sound and others. It shows the influence some early electronic dub pioneers such as King Tubby and Scientist. But it's British coming from South London. Dubstep has heavy bass-lines and neat drum patterns; a mix of electronica, reggae and dub giving a UK urban sound which sounds incredibly dynamic in triple vinyl format. Turn the volume up and feel the bass.

I really wanted to like their music I borrowed this album from the library and I am really glad I didn't buy it. Terrible it was like nails on a chalkboard I just wanted it to end.

Mr Wobble, the man of bass. well known for his world music albums 'rising', 'take me to god', well he seemed to go a bit quiet for a few years. I found molam on amazon and read the review so bought it. You have never heard anything like this, totally strange vocals, the molam singers are a real joy love to see them on pop idols. Although the album has Wobble's trade mark bass which move the songs along, there are also great dub mixes and the album ends with a track of total relaxation. Hill music. Pipes, guitars, loops, and bass all working in total harmony to relax mind and body. A Great album.

The greatest ghetto-dj Big Youth deserves a 3cd compilation but this one with his self-productions lacks a number of classics to be it. What there is does give us many great tracks but a few expandables one notably where Big Youth reverts to plain singing. So as a double cd this compilation would have been better and less expensive.
