I expected this to be pushing the boundaries of world cross over music but it's a bit lame with only a couple of tracks that stand out "Mainoo Ole Bai Ke Pee Lain De" being one. If you want something a bit down tempo to play at your dinner party that's not too offensive, then I suppose this is would fit the bill. A pity as it could have been sublime considering how exquisit Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan vocals are.

I'm not an expert on Augustus Pablo but I'd say this is as good an introduction to his music as you'd find anywhere. Twenty-one tracks and no filler; most of them are sublime. Beautiful music from the 1970s that should live forever.

I was hesitant about buying this, I'd read some things saying it was average etc. but I went out on a limb and can safely say that this is one of the most clever, artistic and ingenious albums I have heard in a long time.

The opener, Fix Your Face is such a bold opener. There's no messing around, it just goes straight into the action, I love it.

Lurch- Dischordant mayhem with fantastic lyrics.

Black Bubblegum- Sexy, sleazy, dirty culminating in an amazingly catchy outro, my personal favourite.

Sick on Sunday- Slow moving at 1st. Then frantic, it sounds like it doesn't know where to go. I sat there with my mouth open, it's so out there, almost grind in places.

Hallucinogen in Dub

A really lovely album to listen to on headphones. Ott has blended the psychedelia and ideas and melodies of Hallucinogen with really solid dub rhythms plus added TONS of his own ideas. It never leaves the dub camp unlike other more psy-ambient works thus always having a foot-tapping beat driving things onwards. The ambient sounds are terrific and the psychedelic work with echos, filters and reverbs and beautiful too - they remind me a bit of the precise spacey soundscapes people like Vibrasphere can produce. But again, the dub baslines, drums and piano stabs and souful harmonica licks turn it into a far more musical affair than say Shpongle.

I'm definately gonna be checking out his other work.

The Trojan Dub Box Set Vol.1

This was the very first Trojan box set that I bought a few years ago, If I'm feeling a bit chilled out I always play this first. I really do love the tracks from the amazing Roots Radics band, but this is a very diverse compilation which I think is esential in your reggea collection. As the title to this review says: Great intro to dub.

Country music's Willie Nelson never one afraid to try something new has come up with a real gem of an album in "Countryman". For anyone trying to decide if the crossover between country music and reggae works grab yourselves a real treat and chill out to Willie's offering here. From new version's of old reggae song's such as "Sitting In Limbo" to the brilliant "Darkness On The Face Of The Earth" this album work's and work's damn well!
Ten year's in the making, I for one hope it's not another ten year's before the next helping of Country Reggae! If I could give it ten star's I would, listen and enjoy!!!!
