What can I say and with a poinient message.

I love this album so much, I am buying this import to get the tracks on CD even tho I have them on tape. That says it all about the quality no?.....

I generally associate Jay Z with albums that consist of a few good beats, average lyrically skills about selling crack and expensive producers.

First thing that hits you about the album is the all star production team, consisting of some of the heavy weights like Em, Timberland, Quick, Neptunes and Kanye.

The album does gel relatively well offering great beats with solid rhyming by Jay, cumulating in some hot tracks such as Lucifer, Moment of Clarity and Allure.

If you like the slightly more intelligentual styles of Common Sense, Talib Kweli, RZA...etc this album may not be for you. Yes, it is commerical but what does that mean??? it is successful.

This has to be the best female hip hop if not the best hip hop album of all time. It is one of those classic albums that you can let play through without skipping any of the tracks. The best songs are how many licks for the nasty factor and aunt dot and revolution for the amazing story telling and flawless rhymes. This album is lil kims best and after listening to it youll never go back to Trina, Eve or anyother of those wannabes. Look out for La bella mafia, its not quite as good but its still amazing.

By All Means Necessary

How do you define classic? After all, By All Means Necessary only has three truly great tracks ("My Philosophy", "Stop the Violence" and "Illegal Business"), yet still has enough to place it easily among rap's greatest achievements. "Jimmy" is awful, the last track is useless, and there's even a sample from the main riff from "Smoke On The Water" here. KRS is pretty inconsistent too, with "Don't get me wrong, America is a great place to live" falling so laughably off-beat. There's just so many things present that could've easily derailed this album, but, like a heavyweight boxer taking punch after punch but never hitting the canvas, this record stands its ground; dropping knowledge and changing hip hop, KRS-One style.

A glorious send off from J Dilla/Jay Dee with some of the most soulful productions J Dilla's ever laid down, and appearances by Common, D'Angelo, Dwele, Pharoahe Monch, Madlib, MED, Black Thought and others!
It's impossible to listen to The Shining without considering the sad circumstances surrounding its release, and all too easy to over praise, but this record is filled timelessly inventive production and passionate rhymes from the honored guests.
A lot of the more abstract touches that create most of the character on the Donuts LP, are really on the outskirts of the sound here, a much richer, deeper, funky drum influenced batch of sounds.
A true classic, go out and check it for yourself, you're be mad not too!

Back from Hell
