This album proved to me that Nas was, is, and always will be a cut above most other artists (in the entire music scene).

At the time in their careers where most rappers are either contemplating retirement to enjoy their lives with the proceeds of mediocre lyricism, or pushing half-hearted efforts out to bump up their bank balances and add another plaque to the wall, Nas gives us this classic. From the long list of quality albums he's made, this one stands up near the top, only being bettered by Illmatic. The lyricism is once again flawless, educational and not material-obsessed and misogynistic like other hip-hop artists. Vaudeville Villain

I got this album along with the dangerdoom album. I listened to this one second, and I was amazed at the scope of MF Dooms performance and creativity. This album has a much darker production, and the character Doom has created is very effective in challenging the gangsta rap scene. The rhymes are what is best about this album, with surprising references to sci-fi, comics and cartoons. The skits on the album are not as common as they are on the dangerdoom album, and are of a very different nature, the whole album is of a very different nature. This and dangerdoom are great introductions to MF Doom and have left me wanting more. MM..Food is on its way from amazon as I write.

Arguably one of the bets hip hop album one can ask for. He flows, he rhymes, he spits, he does it all, can't go wrong with Erick Sermon's production. Listen to KrissKross remix tonite's de nite ft Redman, the man is a classic rapper, he gives you the flow that combines with the beat. If you dont Pick it up, go Smoke Buddha, then you will definitely love this album.

This is a hip-hop masterpeice by Talib Kweli. He is a master of his craft and has produced a slick and intelligent album. My personal favourite tracks are Love Language & Good Mourning but almost every track is a joy to listen to.

If you enjoy genuine hip-hop, get this album. If you are new to hip-hop, get this album. If you enjoy music in all its beautiful forms, get this album.

Yet another superb collection from the Sessions people.

Smooth grooves from Tone Loc, Def Jef and Spoonie Gee mixed with harder numbers from KRS-One, Ultramagnetics etc. An excellent compilation of premier cuts from the Golden Age of Hip Hop. Worth buying alone for JVC Force's Strong Island.

When the stores are full of tired Old School compilations do yourself a favour and buy this instead. Great Tunes from back in the day before gangsta came along and made Rap the boring genre it sadly is today.

Hello Nasty

When I first heard this album I thought it was a bit weird. I listened to it again and a realized that its meant to be weird! But the really amazing thing is that this ( when listened closely ) actually makes a lot of sense and relaxes you. Some of the songs sound like your in a lift but they are so good that you woulden't mind being stuck in a lift with this album playing. I intend to buy more beastie's albums to keep me melo and keep my mind at ease.
Some songs make you laugh, some you sing along to some you dance to. Rock, Jazz, Hip-hop this album has everything and succeds in mixing it into a blend of brilliance that everyone can enjoy.

If you do not own this album buy it right away!!!

Here we have the definative collection of the best (white) hip-hop band ever and probably in the top 5 of any race along with Wu, Public Enemy and Run DMC.

This is what I would say is probably the coolest best-of I've heard in years, that is chock full of songs that you would instanly recognise and some you probably didn't know were by the Beasties'!

It starts off with 'So What You Want' a rocky rap tune that is one of my favourate songs by this group that instantly shows them as innovators of the game with no fear as they tear through any beat.

The interesting thing I found about this album is you could listen to most of it and not be able to tell when it was recorded because they all still sound fresh as they did when they were first released. ... Read More:
