For the most part, we Yanks know Bassey for her contributions to the Bond films, with her rendition of the "Goldfinger" theme, without a doubt, being one of the best performances in all of pop music history. We are not as fortunate as the British - and the rest of the world - to be as familiar with the legendary singer's total discography.

However, it appears that "Get the Party Started" should change all that as it is truly an album for the masses and those that truly appreciate a magnificent vocalist.

'Now and Then' was without a doubt one of the peaks of the Carpenters' career. 'Yesterday Once More' is probably one of their most popular and enduring tunes, but there are plenty of lesser-known gems. 'This Masquerade' is simply sublime, one of the best things the Carpenters ever did. Randy Edelman's 'I Can't Make Music' is both melancholic and gorgeous, while the arrangement of 'Heather' is lush and moving. Most of what's left is covers of oldies lifted up several notches by those wonderful Karen Carpenter vocals. Great stuff. So why not 5 stars? Ambient Heaven - Relaxation

This does not do it for me at all. It is like weird synth music with touch of 70's porn feel and wierd oriental mix that is to fast for relaxation adn has loud bongs and sythn parts which would wake you up if lsitening to whilst having a therapy treatment. I trieed to be objective and did listen to it as whole adn hated it if honest not my thing and I don't feel remotely relaxing more elevator music that is old fashion and not wholesome holistic. I would actually send it back as not worth the money and dissappointed. Some may like it and find it inoffensive but I just don't find it what I wanted and not to my taste at all. Russell Watson: The Voice

Russell is on OK singer, no better than that. He is certainly not a great tenor. He is let down on this recording by the record company trying to make him what he isn't. Using electronics to make his voice sound bigger, and have more depth, does not work. The recording quality, as a result, is the worst I have ever heard - it's harsh, edgy and with so much echo and reverb that it sounds as if it was recorded in an enormous toilet. I could not listen to the album for any more than a few minutes at a time. Do not buy this album - if you want to hear a real tenor pick up any recording by Pavarotti, Domingo, Bjorling, Gigli, Corelli or even Ramon Vargas (if you want a relatively new "kid").

I got this CD as a present to myself, but I've hardly seen it! Everyone has wanted to borrow it! Get yer own!!

The best song by far is the one about digging the 'ole in the ground. But all of his songs have you chuckling to yourself and singing them all day long...

Just got into Michael and trying to get my hands on anything he has done, got his albums and the come fly with me dvd but this dvd is in a class of its own, loved it loved it loved it, he is so charismatic on stage, and the voice?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You will love this, really good set list, bit of monkeying around bit of chat, but most of all, Michael, at his best.

Amore Musica....what can I say. Im only 20 and this is my in my top 5 cds alongside kaiserchiefs, coldplay, guns n roses etc. Out of all the cds he has released, which i also own...this has to the best. His voice has developed a quality which makes his music sound so much more filled with emotion and i get goosebumps everytime i listen to the cd. I would recommend this to anyone....give it a chance! I tell you, its fantastic studying music! First class...cant wait for the next album

It is brilliant and brings back great memories - my girlfriend at the time ( my wife - now ex-wife ) played it non-stop and she converted me into a fan.
