Over the years Andrew Lloyd Webber has made many musicals, some more successful and appealing to the public than the others. Most people will, however, agree that "Evita" remains one of his most satisfying works to this date. Numerous reasons confirm this statement. Just like in its predecessor "Jesus Christ Superstar", "Evita" is almost entirely sung-through; the lyrics are witty and appropriate; the subject matter is again a personality larger-than-life who rises from obscurity and dies at the peak of its fame, thus becoming a legend; the score is captivating and appealing to the listener, at home or in the theatre.
Following the suit of the Superstar, ALW and Tim Rice first published Evita as an album, which appeared in 1976. ... Read More:

Don Carlo is my favourite opera and I think that this represents the best recording of it. It is fresh and inspiring, the singing is sublime and the orchestra is magnificently handled.

Originally billed as the Nolan Sisters, this Irish group first made an impact on the British public via television. Their first album, 20 giant hits, was a collection of covers of UK pop hits. After that, their albums were a mix of covers and original material, which yielded eight UK hits. While that covers album was an easy listening collection, their subsequent music was lightweight, danceable pop music.
Their first hit, Spirit body and soul, only made the thirties but their remaining hits all made the top twenty. I'm in the mood for dancing, their second single, was a top three hit while Gotta pull myself together and Attention to me also made the top ten. Don't make waves, Who's gonna rock you, Chemistry and Don't love me too hard complete ... Read More:

This was Enya's first solo album originally released in 1987 under BBC records and then repackaged and re-released in 1992, which included a revised version of Portrait. This is primarily a sound track album, and contains mainly instrumentals, and although it only has one song in English "I Want tomorrow" what a song it is! it even contains an electric guitar! sounds strange for Enya, but works brilliantly! There are some true gems to be found on this CD especially tracks like The Celts, The Sun In The Stream, Portrait(Out Of The Blue), and To Go Beyond. Well worth adding to your collection! :o)

Following on from compilations by Air, Four Tet, Zero 7 and others, the Late Night Tales series has persuaded French New Wave samba-stylists Nouvelle Vague to offer a glimpse into their home stereo play list. And if you're expecting an album of gentle Latin rhythms well you're in for a surprise. NV's entry in the LNT series is a mix of ambient, easy listening, indie and even a little spoken word.
We start with The Special AKA's reggae-lite Girlfriend before NV's own `exclusive cover version' of Come On Eileen (not their strongest work, it must be said). The music of The Pale Fountains (Unless) and 80's electro goths / short-lived Bahaus side-project Tones on Tail (Moment of Fear) both demand re-examination based on the strength of the tracks included ... firstly i should probably say what kinda music i like: most things!
and this is one of those rare albums which is amazing - every track is wonderful. this album, like moon safari, does not disappoint....and i dont really see a massive change in styles - its different to moon safari but its not so different that you would only like moon safari OR talkie walkie.
i only got it this morning and ive now listened to it through 2 times and it is amazing. it has the beauty of cinematic orchestra but with air's unique electronica feel - a calm and masterful piece of work.
Release Date April 30, 1984
A lot of this album and the one he had just released, was sung at an "exclusive" night we enjoyed in Glasgow a couple of years' ago.
Pity we couldn't get him to sing Patricia The Stripper but hey-ho: a good night.
This is the recording of the first performance in the so-called `Three Tenors' series of concerts. Staged on the eve of the 1990 FIFA World Cup final in Italy on 7th July 1990, and broadcast live around the world, the event probably widened the listening audience of opera music more than any event in history and subsequently elevated the status of the three tenor singers Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti to superstar level.
This latter point led to some disapproval of the sceptics who suggested that rather than bring music to the millions, it made millions for the musicians. In fact, probably both these statements are true and while it may be easy to criticise the singers for their financial gain, the contribution they have made to the opera ... Read More:

The star rating is for the music. Michael sings many popular songs and must face the possibility of being compared to the people that made tem popular. Many people in that position do funny things with the music, thinking that they have to make it unique; Michael does not have to do this (with little exception). He is just being his self and it is great just the way he is. On the other hand this package also contains a DVD which can make great jewelry or maybe hung from a tree to scare birds. It is like one big sound bite; there is no constancy or course to his rattling. On the technical side the soundtrack is out of sing with the video. The video itself looks like the Blair Witch Project; it can not hold steady or focus.
