Sadly I have to say I was disappointed with this compilation. Chill out music? Some tracks were OK but many are boring, bland and repetitious. Perhaps if Cafe del Mar put out less C/Ds, paying more attention to the tracks they would have a better product!

Incorrectly, many people think they are buying another album of Air's own compositions. What is key here is that **these are tracks which influence Air's music**. If you were ever lucky enough to hear Air's Essential Mix or the virtually-impossible-to-find Deck Safari compilations (which were the original Essential mix divided and whose track were the inspiration for Moon Safari), you will know where this is headed.
Air have compiled a beautiful mix of widely varied artists. Japan's Ghosts is a little odd and somewhat out of place though wonderful gems such as those by Georges Delerue, Jeff Alexander and Tan Dun (he from the fantastic 'Hero' film score) as well as a melancholy though sublime Lee Hazelwood piece really make a fantastic ... I found this in a local charity shop and paid 99p out of curiousity. I certainly wasn't disappointed with this intelligent mix of genres and some heart wrenchingly sublime tracks such as 'Zero' and 'Gorecki'. This album has also educated my teenage son to appreciate the diversity of Drum & Bass- its definately my find of the year.

I feel that this is a brilliant mix of upbeat tracks that any person could play whilst chilling out after a hard day at work. I would recommend to this to most people especially those with stressful careers such a fireman, policeman or even teachers. Whatever your taste in music and i am sure this will be your favourite CD this summer! x

David Holmes' 2002 mix album Come Get It I Got It was created in collaboration with Steve Hilton, who also works as a programmer/composer for Craig Armstrong and David Arnold, and amongst the freaky vinyl and deep soul rediscoveries, featured the pair creating some new linking music under the guise of the Free Association. The decision for the Free Association to become a live act meant expanding the line-up to a core four-piece, with the addition of the Bay Area MC Sean Reveron and the singer Petra Jean Phillipson. A few months later the band spent 10 days in the basement studio at LA's Sunset Marquis with mix engineer Michael Patterson recording this debut album. Although it originally came out in 2002, it was re-released the following year ... Read More:

What a great album this is. After the moody, atmospheric soundscapes they had made in their early days, Tangerine Dream had tapped into accessibility a little bit with their 'Ricochet' platter. With 'Stratosfear', the band had released a record that at times keeps to the tried and tested formulas of mellotrons and sequencers etc, but the difference between this album and others is that there is so much more to offer musically. The group play like a band and introduce acoustic and electric guitars as well as plenty of percussion. There are also so much more melodies and genuinely memorable tunes.
The title track is a swashbuckling piece with a memorable theme, and still stands the test of time as one of Tangerine Dream's most enduring and popular tunes. ... Read More:

Perhaps I should have said "Most Consistant Years" of this band.
I bought this originally years ago for two tracks only - "Love On A Real Train" and "The Dream Is Always The Same". These two discs have since served well subsequently in the car.
Not sure if the mastering is from the "Definitive" work done in the nineties, or whether it's just the original that's been repackaged, but WELL WORTH IT as an introduction to their "classic" years with Virgin.

The Brighton Beach party crammed into seventy minutes. This mix is typical Norman Cook- not worried about what's fashionable or whether a track is more than a year or two old, if it rocks the crowd then it goes on. So you end up with classics, and some cheese, from Camisra "Let Me Show You" (which Norman now says he played as a tribute to "Spaced") to X-Press 2 "Lazy" and even some All Saints at the end.
A good reminder of the event for people who were there, a decent but not outstanding party album for those that weren't.
Also, other reviewers have said Norman's mixing is bad, some have said it's brilliant, in my opinion it's inbetween... it's smooth and competent mixing, without doing anything clever (not on this CD, anyway).

As a German living in the Middle East - Gulf region: Oman, Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Quatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, ... - I truly do appreciate the music from that area. The rhythm is always mystical and very highly personal. You can feel the instruments and the musical tones which the artist wants you to feel. The musician wants to take you on a trip. They want to take you to a world unlike any other. And in this album, the very popular female singer NATASAHA ATLAS manages to do just that.
A Portrait: NATACHA ATLAS
Natacha Atlas (born March 20, 1964) is a Belgian singer known for her fusion of Arabic and North African music with Western electronic music. She once termed her music "cha'abi moderne". Her music has been influenced by many styles ... Read More:
