Right, I'm going to review and compare all 5 of the "from the archives" albums so you can choose which, if any, to buy. I looked at the other reviews before I took the plunge but didn't really find any of them particularly informative.

Just so you have a point of reference, I'm a bit of a music geek and have 250 FSOL/Amorphous Androgynous tracks.
My favourite 5 tracks are "Papau New Guinea", "Cascade", "Lifeforms" (by FSOL) as well as "Fat Cat" and "Mountain Goat" (by Amorph.Androg.).
My favourite FSOL album is Lifeforms (and if you don't own that yet you really should buy it).

Cafe Del Mar Ibiza Vol.3: Mixed By Jose Padilla

I'm amazed that this CD has only had one review, as this is a great compilation. To me this vol 3 along with vol 7 is the best of the cafe del mar series. Easy listening and a harmonious mix with some piano music a la cafe style, some light techno, a few dance tracks, some ambient and some jazzy tunes.

Uplifting and worth listening to.

A beuatiful album by Vangelis - the title track is seven minutes of sheer perfection, and its haunting melody is repeated several times during the subsueqent tracks, which are lush, melodic and superbly atmospheric. One of the greatest 'ambient' style albums I've ever heard - put this one on after a long hard day and just let the music dissolve away all stresses and tensions.

Last Train to Mashville

'Last Train to Mashville - Vol 2' allows the listener to even further appreciate the lyrical brilliance of Alabama 3. It is correct to say that the earlier CD's should be listened to first, in order to fully understand the cultural and social focus of the Band. Thanks go to my mother, who used watch 'The Sopranos', just to listen to the theme song 'Woke up this Morning', by Alabama 3. It was she who got me hooked on the Band.

PS: I also wondered where was 'Last Train to Mashville - Vol 1' I'll have to go to a live gig and get a copy !!

You can't not like this album. You just can't.
On eleven tracks, Deathin Vegas have tried their hand at (at least) eleven different styles, andpulled them all off perfectly without ever sounding like they're fakingit.
Every track surprises you by being completely different to the onebefore it, but just as good.
It's one of the most varied andconsistently excellent albums you'll ever hear, so don't spend anothersecond of your life without it.

There is not much more i can add to the reviews already given.

Dont be put off by the fact that these cds are just full of remixes of the same few tracks (the range of styles and mixes is truely amazing).

I have been putting of getting this CD for a while now, but bit the bullet today as i love UNKLE and bought it. Rushed home and after one listen wrote my first ever amazon review.

This is one of my best buys of the year (only wish i bought it sooner)

I suppose Marconi Union are probably best placed in the ambient / electronica category (immediate and obvious comparisons would be with artists such as Global Communication, Boards of Canada, Biosphere, etc), though that's slightly misleading as they also make very effective use of 'real' instruments. What makes them interesting for me is the wide range of influences they manage to incorporate, including minimalism, prog-rock and post-rock -- they weld their influences together intelligently and coherently, managing to make everything serve the general underlying theme of emotional disquiet that runs through the album.

The music has some of the atmospheric evocativeness of Biosphere, but with -- for my money -- more melodic interest. It seems more introverted and less ... Read More:

Yesterday Was Dramatic Today Is Ok

As a fan of all types of electronic music, I first came across Mum when I purchased "We Are Glitter" (an album of remixes) by Goldfrapp. Two of it's tracks; "You Never Know" and "Number 1" were remixed by Mum and were given a totally new sound which I loved (Especially "Number 1" - fans of Mum or Goldfrapp must check this remix out!) So, I googled Mum and found that they had already released four albums and a number of EPs. I Went to HMV the next day and purchased "Yesterday Was Dramatic - Today Is Ok".

I didn't really get into it initially. Not that I'm saying I didn't like it because I did. I just found it a bit hard to listen to as it is very minimal and "light" and there isn't any conventional structure to these songs. I did listen to this album regularly as background music and ... Read More:
