Alabama 3 are, in the words of The Guardian newspaper', 'the best live band in the country'. This album has most of their singalong crowd favourites, including 'Woke up this morning' of Sopranos theme tune fame - buy it now and be converted.

On "The Dream" Dr. Paterson et al continue with the sound settled on with 1997's "Orblivion," only in my opinion this is the superior album. It's an easy, dubby ride with some cheery samples, although The Orb seem to have developed quite an indistinct production style after their first few albums, which I'm not fond of.
Despite some misgivings, it's still worth a listen, especially for the fan.

My friend introduced me to BoC last year and it's one of the greatest things he's done for me. I never really listened to electronica at all but now I'm totally converted! I found 'Music Has the Right,' is perfect for studying. Had a rough day at school/college/work? Well then stick this CD on and relax, let BoC's ambient feel help you unwind =]
Roygbiv is a total masterpiece!

Whether the album resonants the mood of ibiza or not is an intreguing question... however this latest installment does reflect the ambience of this exciting series...
Tiesto decants slivers of everything that is good in the world of house and trance, from the blissful longing of "somewhere inside" to the pulsating "hide and seek" which runs up and down your spine.
It puts a shine in your eyes, even of those who have lost their way.

After "Vertigo" and, even more so, the excellent "Goodbye Country (Hello Nightclub)", I've got to admit this is something of a letdown. Though this is by no means bad (in the traditional sense), it's a very mixed bag of tracks most of which are much too radio-friendly for my taste and more often than not sound a bit shallow to these ears. No real standouts, unfortunately. PS: "Song 4 Mutya" doesn't have anything to do with Madonna, Human League or A Flock of Seagulls (oh my God!), for that matter. The riff and groove are culled from "Let's Be Adult" by Arto Lindsay & Ambitious Lovers from their excellent 1984 album "Envy".

One of the most significant ambient albums of the nineties, Orbus Terrarum represents a journey across a landscape in the form of sound, with each track signifying a different terrain feature. The journey begins in the lush, dense ravine of 'Valley', with it's heavy rolling bass, gradually rising up into the airy, open spaces of 'Plateau', before descending again into the aquatic chimes of 'Oxbow Lakes'. The 'landscape as sound' theme is seemingly abandoned toward the end of the album, with an epic dub workout, 'Slug Dub', instead providing the finale, with humourous, if slightly sinister samples of a childrens' story about lettuce being eaten by 'nasty' slugs. Quite different from all the Orb's other albums, but definitely a classic.

If there was a 'problem' with the original New Forms it was that although it opened a lot of new doors for the drum'n'bassy side of electronic music, it rarely if ever broke out into full-on actual drum'n'bass. It was more jazzy and abstract, often having stretches of build up that would lead into more build up, then kind of nothing... These new 're-licks' are effectively VIP remixes of the originals and they all sound designed for the dancefloor, rather than the headphones/beard-stroking room. For example 'Brown Paper Bag' is transformed from a monolithic 9-minute prog-jazz freakout, to 4 minutes of punchy jump-up (complete with an MC), but it still retains its weird, dark edginess. Likewise, if the original of 'Heroes' was a bit too downtempo and melancholy, here ... Read More:

Well, I've only been listening to this album for a day now and I already love it. Although its not the Orb's best album (a la U.F.Orb), it has some quality tracks on it e.g. the big beats of Ubiquity, the techno-ness of Asylum, the bounciness of Toxygene (which wasn't commisioned from Jean Michel Jarre, that was just a joke made by the band). Also, the album has an obvious oriental quality to it, which also helps me like it because I like parts of Chinese/Japanese music. If you're an Orb fan add it to your collection, if you haven't heard them try U.F.Orb or Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld first, and if you don't like them then...what are you reading this for? Buy and Bye.
