Blue Kentucky Girl is a real roots country album, both in the sound and the nature imagery of the songs, as is obvious from titles like Beneath Still Waters, Hickory Wind, Sorrow In The Wind and Rough & Rocky.

The rhythmic uptempo number Sister's Coming Home with its great fiddle opens the album, and is followed by the stirring slow ballad Beneath Still Waters. Hickory Wind is the Gram Parsons song, and of course Emmylou makes it her own with a soulful, delicate interpretation. The execution is quite different from her duet with Gram Parsons.

This is an album that has barely dated - great songs beautifully sung by a man who is a living legend. Powerful songs of social conscience mix with beautiful ballads and an effortless switch of styles. The tale of failed exile, Missing You, is one of Christy's best-known songs, and still has an angry resonance over twenty years after it was written.

Jimmy McCarthy's Bright Blue Rose, with its enigmatic, mysterious lyrics, is one of the loveliest songs that Christy sings - the CD is worth buying for this alone.

Truly in-credible album. bad song? no you won't find a trace of one on here, Anita's voice remains strong, deep and soulful throughout the album, this is old school R&B exactly the way it should be, soft and smooth with a bit of jazz thrown in, oh those saxophones. What more can i say? one of the few albums that i can comfortably listen to all the way through, a true R&B fan who doesn't own this timeless masterpiece really doesn't know what their missing, pure bliss from start to finish.

American Tune

I really like CD's that every time you play them something new reaches out and grabs you. American Tune is such an Album.

It's my belief that Eva only recorded a track if she felt that she could do it justice, put her stamp on it and bring a fresh interpretation to the original composition.

Most of the recordings on this CD were made in one take and have only recently been discovered. They all show her talent and that of Keith Grimes and Chris Biondo.

Forget the artificially produced unpluggeded version that other Artists put out this is UNPLUGGED in it's true and natural state.

A couple of the tracks like True Colours and Yesterday you will enjoy straight off because of their familiarity BUT the beauty of this album ... Read More:

It has taken me a while to come around to Sarah's music. Perhaps this is because I was not mature enough to appreciate it when she first started out (I was a teenager when this album was originally released). My tastes have changed over the years and I am glad that I didn't buy this until I was 'ready' for it. FUMBLING TOWARDS ECSTASY is a beautiful album, but as another has pointed out, there are moments that the pain drips from her words.
People on Amazon have starred this as her masterpiece - because this is the first and only album that I have by Sarah, I cannot comment on the validity of this, but what I can say is that the amount of talent she has is undeniable. Quite simply the weakest Madonna album in her entire catalogue. A collection of mediocre pop tracks that are seemingly spliced together in the a manner that lacks any sort of logic. One can hardly believe that this is Madonna - the most successful female act ever (UK & US)! What a let down. Madonna aficionados will, of course, have to add it to the collection. Fair enough, but if this is not you, just don't bother.

This was Enya's first solo album originally released in 1987 under BBC records and then repackaged and re-released in 1992, which included a revised version of Portrait.
This is primarily a sound track album, and contains mainly instrumentals, and although it only has one song in English "I Want tomorrow" what a song it is! it even contains an electric guitar! sounds strange for Enya, but works brilliantly!
There are some true gems to be found on this CD especially tracks like The Celts, The Sun In The Stream, Portrait(Out Of The Blue), and To Go Beyond.
Well worth adding to your collection! :o)
