Many would have it that Gerry Rafferty's classic subsequent album 'Night Owl' is his best - but probably only his most memorable by the title being the same as the hit single that was taken from it, but I've always believed 'City To City' to be his best work, and it just so happens to include his biggest selling single 'Baker Street'.

Every track on this album is a masterpiece - catchy and memorable after only the first hearing, and I challenge anybody to say otherwise.

Music at its best - a 70s classic!

Devotchka ( The name is taken from the film "A Clockwork Orange" and translates as little girl) were responsible for my favourite album of last year -except that it was originally released in 2004. How It Ends is a giddy mixture of imprecise Eastern tones performed with tangible relish and gusto. The band have gained more of a following through their appearance on the soundtrack of underwhelming indie film "Little Miss Sunshine" yet are still no where near as huge as they should be.

Don't listen to the hype about Don Mclean.

I must say I was really looking forward to listening to Minnie's new album because I genuinely enjoyed her first album. I would like to say I was blown away by her latest attempt but I wasn't. I was disappointed for the most part although there are a few redeeming songs on the album, namely Mockingbird, London Skies and Love is Love. These songs are magnificent, a triumph on an otherwise befuddled, lackluster album. Minnie can't seem to decide whether she wants to sing country, folk or pop and combining all three, sometimes all in one song, is painful to listen to and just downright frustrating because we all know how talented she is. While some of her lyrics are simply divine others seem like the non-sensical ravings of a drugged up teenager. I would like to believe ... Read More:

Simon and Garfunkel's albums are still good, not least due to the brilliance of simon's songs. Sometimes though the poppy production and arrangements dilute the power of the song, 'Leaves that are green' being a classic example.

'April come she will', featured in 'The Graduate' is truly brilliant, but 'We've got a groovy thing' is just plain silly.

If you want to hear the best of these songs done in an altogether more convincing and emotive way, check out 'The Paul Simon songbook' for some fantistic solo versions, recorded before this album was made.

Great music. It sounds much more fresh and inventive than folk music normally does, and it is 40 years old.

A great guitarist and singer at the peak of his powers on this album.

Just buy it and enjoy it, and ignore all the noise about "better than Bob Dylan", "Nick Drake was a better guitarist" etc etc

Jack Savoretti has set the UK alight with his Debut Album 'Between The Minds' Deluxe. Not only a talented guitarist with a voice that sounds stunning but also lyrics and music that flows almost poetically. If there's a BRIT newcomer award then my vote goes to Savoretti. The CD's ooze quality, a blend of Bob Dylan, Tom Baxter, Damien Rice, Ray Lamontagne, Simon & Garfunkel, Nick Drake, Neil Young and James Blunt but better.
