This album is such a good buy, because of the mixture of songs on it, but at the same time has a mainstream vibe running through every one-the songs on the album are extremely well written and produced and it seems to me that time and money have been thrown at this album and with the talented Jordin Sparks at the helm it has been an utter success:
1.Tattoo-Catchy and definitely mainstream pop; not the best song on the album, but it is a great opener. 9/10
2.One Step At A Time-Has an R&B flavour to it and a great beat. 8/10
3.No Air-An ansolutely fantastic song-I'm no fan of duets, but this is outstanding vocally and lyrically. 10/10
4.Freeze-This song adds yet another dimension to the albuma kinda electronified ... Read More:

After hearing a lot of good things about Rachel Unthank in the press and catching a couple of promising sounding tracks on Mike Harding's Folk on 2, I was looking forward to hearing The Bairns in its entirety.
As the finishing bars melted away, I had already lost the will to live and was furiously trying to remember how to fashion a hangman's knot !
This is really, really depressing album. Like June Tabor, Rachel U has a melancholic voice which is perfect for the moody, tragedy of the her songs' subject matter.
Of course death, lost love and regret are stock in trade in Folk music. Unfortunately,Rachel's interpretations makes a traditional mournful ballad like say 'Little Musgrave' delivered by someone like Martin Simpson sound like ... Read More:

a perfect mix of rock and acoustic, which is what they do best. yes, even better than colour and the shape in my opinion

'Master of Puppets' is Metallica's best work as everyone knows. Full of powerful riffs and awesome lyrics. This is what really got Metallica noticed. Tracks:
'Battery': Awesome start to the album. This starts with a great piece of guitar work and then builds into one of Metallica's best known songs. A great riff and a track that is great to play live. 5/5
'Master of Puppets': One of my favourite Metallica tracks. Some may ay this is too long but I think it's just right. Awesome riff, awesome lyrics, and a very good solo part in the middle. Another great track to play live. This has to be played loud. 5/5
'The Thing That Should Not Be': Another awesome riff. No real chorus to this track but some of the best lyrics I have ever ... Read More:

Firstly, I have to say i have never heard of "dubstep" so if this is "Dubstep" then brilliant.
However, I can't help but think that this sits quite nicely in the same camp as Deep Forest and possibly Enigma, very ambient chill with deep bass and samples/ chanting (Archangel)
That's not to say this album isn't good - it's brilliant, have had it on constant repeat for a few days now,

Imagine how lucky you would feel if you were invited into Abbey Road studio to hear the master tape of the White Album. Well, what this CD version is is the next best thing, a flat transfer of the Abbey Road master tape on CD... no EQ, no noise reduction, no compression or any other Modern mastering techniques that destroy the dynamic range of classic recordings. Is it quieter than a modern CD? Yes, but that's why we have volume knobs.
If the rumours are correct then the Beatles recordings will be re-mastered and re-released, whether good or bad the White album will not sound like this does. We can only hope when they are re-released that the Mono Mix finally gets it's CD debut. It's absolutley scandalous that this has not been available for over 20 years. But for ... Read More:

I'll admit that I shyed away from this album initially since it's not the genre of music I'd usually listen to but after one listen I couldn't have been more impressed.
The lyrics are clever and original; the melodies catchy and her voice is simply stunning.
Not a day has passed where I have failed to give at least one track on this album a listen and it's hard to stop when the songs are just so magical and captivating!
I love each and every song on the album but I think "Ghosts", "Captain and The Hourglass", "Failure" and "My Manic and I" are just that little bit extra special. Would also highly recommend giving "New Romantic" (which isn't on the album) a listen if you haven't done so already.
A brilliant young talent (can't believe she's less ... Read More:
