I'm giving this 5 stars in an attempt to bring the overall rating to a more realistic level (at the time of writing the low level is caused by McStick's particularly unhelpful and blinkered comments).
The tracks on this CD are classics of the jazz genre. The CD is a perfect introduction to the more mellow regions of the jazz world. As it is designed to accompany Classic FM's midnight show then I would say that it hits the spot perfectly in that regard too.
If you are a jazz lover then the chances are you will have most of these tracks in your collection already. If you are new to jazz - possibly introduced to it by the Classic FM show - then this seems to me to be an excellent CD to buy.

Folklore and Superstition, the new Black Stone Cherry album, has blues and southern vibes written all over it. Although it's completely different from their first heavier self-tilted album that was released back in 2006, it still delivers a new refreshing look into the world of modern southern rock as well as firmly sticking to their roots.
"Soulcreek" is one of their more melodic and soulful tracks that encompasses everything Black Stone Cherry stand for, Soulful heart-pounding rock. Although, there's a massive difference between their two albums, it can't fail to impress the hardcore BSC fans as well as the newly hooked ones.
"Peace is Free" is by far the most anthemic song on the album. Other songs include "The Bitter ... Read More:

Eliza Carthy, Karine Polwart, Luka Bloom (Christy Moore's brother Barry) - what's not to like? Anyone who has been in touch with the contemporary folk scene in recent years will find much to enjoy here. My own joy was finding a track by the wonderful Mary Gauthier - her "I Drink" was a festival highlight for me a few years ago. This CD is cheap enough for dedicated fans to give to friends who are convinced that folk is Fair Isle jumpers, beards and hands over ears.
This has to be the best value CD in my collection - not a duff track in the mix. There are several live versions as is common with albums of this type, but none that make you hastily skip a track. Buy it, you know it makes sense. If you want to do something "folky", it's cheaper than a pint ... Read More:

Was wondering what to buy recently when I saw a review of this album and an interview with the singer in a sunday magazine.Turns out that this is a brilliant album, and has traces of blues, gospel, pop, country, and a touch of the brilliant Karen Carpenter about it.
Stand-out tracks for me include the intense deep gospel of Nobody's Fault But Mine and One Cloud, and the lighter yet still uplifting pop of So Sublime and i Shall Be Released.
A varied collection then in some ways, yet with a pleasing undercurrent of blues running throughout the whole album to string it all together and give it a sense of identity.
Really uplifting and at times extremely powerful! For once the hype may be justified!

To me this set of eleven songs seems like This Is The Life - a deserving worldwide hit, with six million YouTube views at the time of writing - and ten charming variations. Collectively, they just about pull their weight, and occasionally get close to genius (e.g. 'Poison Prince', in my humble opinion). I very much hope we will see one or two more big ideas in the second album.

After reading all the previous reviews on this album, I feel it's time to post my own review.
I just don't get what people are saying when they say the songs are disappointing and they all sound the same! These people need their ears checking. Yes, their songs will sound relatively similar, because they have their own unique sound and style. Listen to a Coldplay album and all their songs will sound similar because of Chris Martin's unique voice, the same with Justin Timberlake, Amy Winehouse...everyone! So anyone who wants every single album track on an album to sound extremely different needs to buy one of the latest 'Now' CDs.
Roy Stride is extremely talented! I love every single song on this album and they are so catchy, I'm addicted to the ... Read More:

As you might guess from the title, I don't like this one bit. Loved their first two albums, and the live in New York CD, and have been waiting for this third album for years. But it is awful to the point where I can't listen to it. It's like Eric Morecambe said - all the notes are there, but not necessarily in the right order. It gives me a headache every time I turn it on. What were you thinking Beth? Look out my copy on Amazon Marketplace! Erm, it's brilliant, you must buy it...

For all its world-conquering success, ABBA Gold didn't really "rehabilitate" ABBA. The casual track sequencing and the choice of only the biggest hits means that a lot of good stuff was missed. The kitsch that dogged the early part of ABBA's career seems to be reinforced.
With The Definitive Collection, however, you get (a) all of the tracks that appear on Gold, (b) plus the additional gems that couldn't be included on Gold, and (c) very elegant packaging.
Another great plus with this set is that the tracks are sequenced chronologically. This makes it easier to see how the group progressed from their somewhat "innocent" early days to their remarkably affecting early 80s output. The big hits are well known and have been discussed ad infinitum. ... Read More:

I've run out of superlatives for this guy, His playing is just phenomenal ... pure class. If you haven't got Joe Bonamassa yet this is a great place to start.... If you have got Joe Bonamassa... then this is a must for your collection. Blues Rock at its very best. To be honest .. its worth it just for the Django/Just Got Paid(Dazed and Confused) track. Truly epic.

I'm not really a fan of Madonna - I like the odd song. I fell in love with '4 Minutes' and decided to get the album. It definitely has a dance/techno feel to it, but don't let that put you off. Here's my mini review of the songs:
1. Candy Shop - Starts off good, but gets very repetitive.
2. 4 Minutes - Fantastic, as most of you know.
3. Give It 2 Me - Brilliant.
4. Heartbeat - Very addictive. I liked it.
5. Miles Away - Funky, and fun throughout.
6. She's Not Me - Upbeat, funky, fresh and a great beat.
7. Incredible - It's... incredible.
8. Beat Goes On - Hm... really good. Kanye West wasn't too bad, but he got a bit repetitive.
9. Dance 2night - Great. A solid beat, with great vocals and lyrics.
10. Spanish Lesson ... Read More:
