This is an essential real funk collection for anybody out there who likes a bit of funk already or is thinking about dabbling.
All the tracks are good but the stand out for me is 'What about you (in the world today)' which is extraordinary alone for being just vocals and drums. The track is so funky that I didn't even notice the absence of other instruments until the 4th or 5th listen!(who needs over produced modern soul/r&b with multi layered instruments??). I honestly don't think anybody would be disappointed with this album. If they are shoot them!

What a gem of an album this is. I've had a vinyl copy for years, and although I'd updated the six studio albums and Absolutely Live to CD versions a few years ago, I'd left this one behind. Having listened to it again a few weeks ago, I have to ask myself - Why?

This is an excellent album with John Densmore, Robby Krieger and Ray Manzarek having reunited in 1978 to record backing tracks to Jim Morrison's poetry from a session in 1970. It works beautifully, and is a fitting finale to the main canon of The Doors' musical output.

Not suprisingly, I'm now the proud owner of a CD copy of the album.

The best place to start the Faith No More journey is here this record is just class it mixes it's songs well from heavy grundge to really mellow almost jazzy tracks and everything in between Mike Patterns voice is for me at it's best on this record...Almost Ten years on and i still love it..
My lips are moving but theres no sound..
Style : Take your pick, there really is something for everyone..

G. Love & Special Sauce

I listened to this album first in 1996 at university. It belonged to a friend, but I went straight out and bought it, I liked it that much. Sat about on the grass on campus we, my friends and I, spent many a Summer afternoon doing very little, chilling out to the laid-back music of G. Love & his Special Sauce.
I like the album's catchiness, 'Baby got Sauce' immediately entered into my 'favourite tracks ever' list, but 'Cold Beverage' was the track of the holiday for us all. Lemonade & a double scoop...

Kidding apart, I'm a huge estimator of the Beasties, gonne see them live in 14 days time in a Gala event, and I think this album confirms their creativity and their originality. The Definitive Collection

As pointed out by previous customers, the track listing in this cd is basically the same as the one in the previous collection "Level Best".
"Why bother, then?", you might ask. I'll tell you why. The songs have been (as you'd expect) beautifully remastered, and sound like they never did.
I already owned "Level Best", but I'm surely glad I purchased this one too.
I mean, just listen to that bass pumping...

What a splendid collection of some of the best songs ever written.Being young i wasn't around to experience the release of such great tunes but i'm now well up to date and still after all these years stevie wonder's songs remain as classics and stevie wonder is such an inspiration and genuine pure talent. This is an easy way to get hold of the best music around and each song is unique and amazing.Great for every mood!!!!

I don't think 2 stars is a justified score, and while I certainly don't think Phoenix is Zebrahead's best work, I do think it's a great pop-punk album with more to offer than Broadcast To The World.

In my opinion Matty sounds a lot nicer with his vocals in Phoenix than in Broadcast. I think this is mostly thanks to the way the album is produced, but nonetheless it is nicer to listen to. It's clear that some effort has gone into trying to throw some original ideas for this album. Ali's rapping style is as distinctive as ever for most of the CD, but on a couple of the tracks you can tell he's gone for a slightly different sound (All for None and None For All, Hit The Ground). Secret Lovers - The Best Of Atlantic Starr

In the late 70's and early 80's Atlantic Starr released some of the classiest soul of the era. Songs like 'When Love Calls', 'Circles', 'Silver Shadow', 'Love Me Down' and 'Secret Lovers' remain to this day classics of the genre. This compilation, I'm glad to say, has been very intelligently compiled and genuinely includes some of the groups very best tracks. Apart from the aforementioned classics this CD includes two of the groups killer Sam Dees penned ballads in 'Send For Me' and 'Am I Dreaming' which are both dead slow southern soul at it's best (as anyone who's ever heard of Dees will know!) 'If Your Heart Isn't In It' and 'Touch A Four Leaf Clover' are nice and in the same vein as 'When Love Calls' and while the remaining uptempo tracks are not quite as essential as 'Circles' ... Firstly, I agree with other reviewers. What was the basis for the selection of tracks? Why no "My Cherie Amour? Is there something that we don't know about the ex-PM's wife?

However, the main problem with this compilation is that it charts Stevie's downfall from leader to follower. OK, some of it is subjective, but I'm sure I'm not the only person to find "You are the sunshine of my life" beautiful, but "I just called to say I love you" corny. Come on, a drum machine and a cha-cha-cha ending is for a Holiday Inn bar performer. Equally, Part-time Lover seems to based on You Can't Hurry Love's backing track. Marvin Gaye might have had the crooning talents to do Overjoyed, but Stevie should avoid crooning. Compare Skeletons and So What the Fuss to Superstition: They ... Read More:
