This album is an excellent representation of Redman's mind. Most of the tracks contain outstanding lyrics, and the beats only enhance the experience of listening to this CD. After the first time, you will leave this CD in your stereo forever. All the songs are dope, with no fillers. The best songs are da journee, and the classic, Can't wait. Any east coast rap fan, or really any rap fan, get this album. Now.

Like lots of Reggae/ Carribean Soul this album really strikes a chord when you are under the influence. The groove is somewhere between Church singer, Soul rebel hornplay and slow reggae drift groove to your average man in the street.
But then you listen to the album as a whole while really relaxed and you actually wonder how an album can be created that is so utterly timeless and even verging on futuristic! I believe this album was one of the first Reggae albums to use a drum machine and it augments the Dub styling and core Religious values along with the knowledge that Max Romeo was a down and dirty dub artist before and after.
The album is centred on inner peace and making things right and I wonder if the album is slightly introspective ... Read More:

DJ Scratchy was a regular figure at Punk gigs in the late 70's. He was the DJ who introduced Reggae, Ska and Dub to the bondage trousered crowds at Clash gigs, tirelessly promoting the Jamaican sound. Here with this double CD he relaunchedhis career, and what a wonderful collection it is, with a mixture of old favourites and obscure gems, this is a great collection. If you listen carefully, you can still feel the Punk vibe here and relive the whiff of stale beer and marijuana of London clubs in the air.

If I were stuck on a desert island with only one cd, this would be it!
I cant describe music too well but if I told you that other favorites in my colllection were: Pink Flyod, Eat Static, Nightmares on Wax, Massive Attack and Portishead, then perhaps you can imagine what flavour it might be.
I have played this album over and over and over, and i'm still not tired of it.
Dont discount Sound or Second Light either. They are quite different to each other but still awsome in their own right!
Big up to Mark at Cob records for the e-mail confirmation and speedy service! 10 out of 10 mate!

The Rocksteady era was short, but in that time some gems where made. Conquering Ruler - Morgan, Derrick, Riding On A High & Windy Day - Paragons, Dreader Than Dread - Honey Boy Martin, Upsetter - Lee Perry. This defiantly is an album to get your lover in the mood, slower than Ska, more filled in then Dub, should put a smile on anyone's face after they have bought it and played it for the first time

Shaggy's just had one of the best comebacks in any performers career but his old music is also some of the best. Old mixed with new, in this case, works out for the best, especially by leaving out some of the more repetitive songs such as 'it wasn't me'.

Having cut numerous massive selling 12" singles with Sly and Robbie ("Leaving To Zion", "General Penitentiary", "Shine Eye Gal") for a variety of labels, Black Uhuru were snapped up by Island and given a contract that allowed them enough studio time to make albums, and sent to work with their favourite ryhthm section.
The result was an album that was far ahead of most reggae of its time, and pointed the way towards the emerging digital dancehall sounds, without resorting to the cheap sexism of the "slackness" that so disfigured that music's early years. Working at Channel One with a few former Revolutionaries (Radcliffe Bryan, Ranchie McLean and Ansel Collins) on hand to beef up the sound, with ernest Hoo Kim at the controls, and with tunes as strong ...
