by: To Mera

Release Date September 11, 2006

To-Mera is an Anglo/Hungarian ensemble that came into being during late 2005, comprising of ex-Extreme Noise Terror bassist Lee Barrett and Hungarian vocalist Julie Kiss (ex-Without Face). The duo met at a gig and decided that they had similar tastes in music, along with their ambitions being of the same nature, so they formed the group by setting about the task of recruiting some well school musicians to join the duo. With a number of musicians selected from different genres like, avant-garde jazz, classical music and death metal, the arduous task of recording the debut `Transcendental' was undertaken. Candlelight Records secured the deal and a number of months later `Transcendental' was released with critical approbation from the ... Read More:

Mourning Sun

CD-Charts > Music > Goth
by: Fields Of The Nephilim

Release Date November 28, 2005
This is an interesting album , in that i really couldn't get in to it at first . I must admit it did stay on my shelf for a couple of months untouched and i was left slightly dissapointed and yearning for 'the good old days' as it were. I decided to stick it on my mp3 player as i was sticking all the other nephilim stuff on i thought i might aswel.I didnt realise up to that point how much Mourning Sun flows together , flows together like the Elizium album flows together , and how hard it pounds in places , unrelentless pounding not so disimiler to the Zoon album . It was like some unseen barrier had been lifted (maybe subconsiously i didn't want to like it because the rest of the origional nephs Pettit ,Yates, the Wright brothers were abcent)and i realised ... Release Date January 01, 2008
I will admit, when I first heard RiB were releasing a new album I didn't really care that much. Like a lot of people I had heard of 'Oh My Goth!' but aside from that I'd only heard one or two other tracks until I picked up this album. One word: Wow. Although the lyrics are quite poor the songs are still brilliant, Blush, Visions, There Goes my Head and Nevermeant V2 are some of the best from the album. Don't be decieved by the fact the second CD's made up of remixes these are still brilliant and in my opinion some of them are better than the originals. A brilliant industrial album.

Release Date October 23, 2006
Killer Likes Candy...WHAT A TRACK!!!!!
it sounds a bit like trivium but with understandable yet high class lyrics, i live the opening riff and the undertones of violin from kerith give it a touch of class. I believe this is the best song on the album and the other songs are excellent as well.
On top of this i met the group at the Kerrang! tour and they were the nicest band i've met! so buy it

CD-Charts > Music > Goth
by: Peter Murphy

Release Date September 28, 2004
This is the latest offering from Peter Murphy and he shows that he still has an outstanding voice. Six of the songs are collaborations with Paul Stratham (who co-wrote Cascade) and the influence shows in the music.

The first song should be familiar to you if you managed to get hold of the CD by Rambient, as Peter provided vocals on a couple of their tracks - the song is essentially the same. However tehe rest of the tracks show just how ecclectic Murphy can be when it comes to recording tracks. Most of the tracks are straight commercial pop (obviously we are talking Murphy's style of commercial pop here so it won't sound like most pop music).

A couple of the songs do sound like earlier Murphy tracks, which is no bad thing in my opinion. ... Read More:

by: The Cure

Release Date May 02, 2005
For a long time I have been very curious about The Cure, but listening to there greatest hits I could never really tell what there actual sound was, some songs are fun (lovecats), some songs are dark (charlotte sometimes), so... rather than doing the conventional thing of buying the greatest hits, I decided to buy a random album, and I chose Pornography... on the first listen I was confused, because the album flows with a similar sound all the way through (pounding drums, more bass than actual guitar), One Hundred Years became my favourite cure song ever on the first listen, with the opening lyrics "It doesn't matter if we all die" and for some reason my favourite line ever "waiting for the deathblow".
It's only after about 15 listens when I realised how ... Read More:

CD-Charts > Music > Goth
by: Nightwish

Release Date October 02, 2007
Having heard the track "The Islander" I thought I would love this, even though Tarja's vocals would be missing from the album. I didn't. Annette's voice is not just different, it isn't particularly good - unless she hasn't been allowed to let it fly. The lyrical quality has been lost from all but the two folky tracks. Whether you like it will depend on what you liked about Nightwish before. If it was that great, soaring operatic, symphonic quality that gave us tracks such as Down with the Sun, then get Tarja's solo album "My Winter Storm". If it was the harder stuff, then probably you'll love it.

CD-Charts > Music > Goth
by: Sirenia

Release Date March 08, 2004
This is a strong and richly textured album mixing heavy metal guitars, swirling keyboards, violins and choral arrangements.
In tone it is decidedly gothic metal and sounds like a cross between Cradle of Filth and Fields of the Nephilim with the pleasant addition of some female vocals.

'Lithium and a Lover' opens the album in good style and is pretty representative of the the album as a whole, featuring both heavy guitar oriented sections and lighter female vocal led passages.

There are also a couple gentler tracks;the instrumental 'Seven Sirens...' and 'Save Me from myself', which is reminiscent of the ethereal techno-goth style of a band like Collide, but the violins give it a more dynamic 'real music' feel than a midi alone could achieve.

by: Original Soundtrack

Release Date March 11, 2002
First impressions of this album--- looks good, sounds good, Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Adema, etc. It doesnt live up to my expectations really. My Plague is the best song by far on the CD. Adema's Everyone is also excellent and the score by MM is pretty good. But thats it really. The rest of it is quite boring and the CD is gathering dust on my rack. Buy it if you like 'no talent' or if u have every other soundtrack available on the face of the Earth

Disapointing.....
