its a refreshing change 2 hear music that isnt whining on about how they have got no friends and they h8 themselves.instead its an aural assault on any gangster and how you dont want2mess with them.loose kicks off the album and it sets the tone, with the duo vocals(rapping and screaming).this is one of the best rap metal albums i own.

It offends me that I have to give even one star. This apalling cd is MF as she is today. She can hardly talk, never mind sing. Some things, like old girlfriends, are best remembered as they were. This is certainly the case in Marianne Faithfull's music. I have already thrown this cd away in disgust.

VDGG do not conform to the typical '70's prog rock formula. Thats why their music works so well. They are completley original and although their music is not immediate when it does grow on you, you'll never look back! This is a good album to start with if you have never heard any of their others. There is a broad cross section of tunes on this album that covers their erratic stop/start career from 1970 - 1977 ish. Witness the unique power of Hammil's voice and the crushing and stirring Hammond organs and the refreshing lack of lead guitar heroics! There is'nt a duff track on here but the best have to be 'Killer' 'Sleepwalkers' 'Man-ERG' and 'Still life' Moving and powerfull stuff which sadly never really made a huge commercial dent on the UK or US ... An appalling album which merits it's one star rating purely for the inclusion of the four tracks from their masterpiece 666. AGEAN SEA, THE FOUR HORSEMEN, BREAK and LAMENT are all nascent prog classics - beautifully played and produced, exquisitely written.

Sadly the rest of this bleak collection, blighted by poor sound and Demis Roussoss' wearying whinney of a voice show why the band were little known outside of mainland Europe.

If you're only wxperience of the band is 666, avoid like the plague.

Mightily disappointing.

There were post 1970 gems from the Incredible String Band, but this compilation doesn't garner them as well as it might.

By 1970, Messrs Williamson & Heron had their ladies Rose & Licorice on record & in the group with them. As the 70's progressed, they grew in numbers, if not in strength, as, amongst others, Gerard Dott, accomplished but 3,000 year old piano player & Malcolm LeMaistre, dancer and Mick Jagger-like vocalist(though without the talent!) joined up.

Make no mistake, much of the rubbish of the increased-numbers combinations they fielded on their last 3 albums has been thankfully ignored, but so too have shining stars like At The Lighthouse Dance,Old Buccaneer,See All The People and The Actor.

but a good selection from the hippest uunderground band this side of the west way.
the fairies were my first awakening to the hippie /post punk underground real rock music squat culture drug's and things that made you go pop in the night?! where i got into them around 1975 as i lived in acton ... why not check out my biog "people call ya crazy when ya talk like that" by steve redman and you can read for yourself a fans insight into all things rock/punk/hippie/biker etc,etc surrounding the west of london circa 1975-1990 and here youll see the influence that bands such as this had on us back then.
