10CC were huge in the mid to late 70's. Much like contemporaries ELO they were often overlooked by the more hybrow critics and dismissed as merely Beatles wannabe's. Whilst the Beatle comparisons cannot be denied messers, Godley, Creme, Gouldman and Stewart were an entirely more exciting prospect than Jeff Lynne's mob.
Lyrically erudite, musically inventive and all four band members possesed of great voices, 10cc peddled harmony drenched, hugely inventive powerpop and retro rock. At their best they were sublime - 'I'm Mandy, Fly Me', 'Life Is A Minestroni' and 'Rubber Bullets'. 'I'm Not In Love' may have been dulled by massive over exposure but it's still a great ballad and more than deserved it's number 1 position on both sides of the ... Read More:

I liked the vast majority of this albums songs. All Pearl Jams hits are featured. A few reason why I have not given a 5/5 star review are: The remastered songs (2 on each album). Theyre just not as good as the originals. Also the album structure I feel is not right. Instead of charting PJ's career chronologically (Grunge-Post Grunge etc), songs are placed in what appears to be random order, although the first disk is a lot heavier. Personally I would have done it chronologically, but you cant please everyone! The album cover is a little naff, the sleeves make it difficult to get CD's out of and often the CD's will fall out if your carrying the album about, what was wrong with a hard case?!
Still a great album, although if you have the songs ... Read More:

This is a truly comprehensive CD, containing all the band's hits, from the
electronic-sounding "She's So High" to brand-new indie-ish song "Music Is My Radar", this album contains some classic stuff. "Girls And Boys" and "Parklife" are both sparkling gems of Brit-pop, as is "Country House".
"Charmless Man" is an insanely catchy tune and the four tunes taken from
their eponymous 1997 effort are all present and correct. There is also some obscure stuff, like the ballad-like "To The End", the country-ish "Tender", and the lounge ballad "The Universal". The only negative note I can make about this album is that the new song isn't really that good and there is the unexplainable abscence of two classics from Modern Life Is Rubbish, "Sunday Sunday" ... Although the band still manage to create great songs and sounds it was during the 1980s that they arguably produced some of their best work and indeed, created some of the songs of all time which made the band the worldwide phenomenon they are today.
Songs like Pride, With or with out you, I still haven't found what I'm looking for and Where the streets have no name are now iconic and serve to represent what was a golden era for U2 and the music world in general.
Even if your not bothered about the B sides this compilation is simply brilliant and well worth owning. For me it should be in any music lovers collection.
Just as a final note, the music does not stop at track 14. After 'All I want is you', you will be treated to a bonus ... Read More:

I was looking for somewhere to start to begin my Fleetwood Mac education having vague childhood memories of it from the influence of my parents, and I couldn't have picked a better place to start!
This is a wonderful compliation which covers different eras of Fleetwood Mac's musical development, and with that comes some very different sounds to their music.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my feelings not only about this album but also about the Human League who are one of my favourite bands and an inspiration, not only for their music but their togetherness as a band.
Firstly, the Greatest Hits album. The only track I'm not too keen on is the remix of 'Don't You Want Me' at the end, which I find a bit tacky (couldn't Virgin have put 'Heart Like A Wheel' on instead?). The other tracks on the album are of at least a good standard, with my favourites being 'Love Is All That Matters', 'Together In Electric Dreams', 'Human', 'Mirror Man' and 'Tell Me When' which was the song that introduced me to the band. Overall it is a superb collection of fine electronic music.

Now I don't claim to be a Rock expert, or a devoted fan of Mr. Kravitz. I have followed his career for a number of years, and every now and then a song of his will catch my attention. This CD is the perfect one for me, as I won't be getting all his CDs, and this covers the best of them( saying that I would like his very Curtis sounding' What goes around come around' from his Mama Said CD. This leads me to my second point. In his earlier CDs as he struggled to find the right line between sounding like your idols, and finding his own voice, he often came across as an immature artist. I believe that after four or five Cds he is finally starting to find his own voice. My favorite songs on this Cd are' Are you Gonna go my way?'' Fly away', 'It ain't over 'till it's over', 'Always on the ... Read More:

this was a big favourite of mine, growing up in the 80's and early 90's. this album is by far the best reggae collection of ub40's. i also bought the ub40 dvd which has a few others which do not feature on the collection. if you want relaxing, soul trippin music this summer, then i suggest this album. totally superb.
this is a must for anyone who not only likes ub40 but enjoyed the 80's and its music.
