OK, the packaging looks cheap (almost photocopied) and there was room for at least one more single on disc 1 (Androgony maybe, to address the selection balance a bit), but overall this is great collection of songs that generally work well together. There are highs and lows ofcourse, but this represents the variation of material across their 4 creative albums.Sound is excellent throughout, so well worth buying. The bonus new single "Hurts" is ok, but slightly over-polished, particularly after the rougher edged material from Bleed Like Me.

The remix disc is listenable but as usual they don't gel very well as an album, even though each song only appears once. Be aware too that some of these mixes are either radio edits or have apparently ... Read More:

fantastic album but only 4 stars due to a lack of a couple of essential stranglers songs, eg. waltzin black, bear cage and i'd liked to have had a few more songs from their masterpiece, "the raven" included.

still a really cool compilation though from a very underrated piece of british musical history. some of the organ solo's will make your head spin, and i have seen it make people nauseous and lunge for the stereo to turn it off, so beware!

you might want to get "the collection 77-88" instead and give the later stuff a miss. it's just a bit tame compared to the older stuff.

This is an excellent set collecting together in a convenient single disk the best of G'n'R. But if you want an introduction to the band you should purchase the 1st album no question as its one of the greatest rock albums of all time. What this Greatest Hits collection does is bring together all the best bits from the other 4 albums plus the odd single. There are only 3 'taster' tracks from the first album here so its no hardship to buy the 1st album and this one together (especially as the former is so inexpensive). That's why this is the perfect companion set to the first album. If you are still hungry after that then dive into the others. No serious fan of hard rock, or for that matter any fan of contemporary music, can afford not to have a healthy selection ... Read More:

I've always liked The Black Crowes - they're so laid back. Their music is in the category of rhythm and blues rather than heavy rock. This cd is a showcase of their style which should appeal to established fans as well as to new converts.

Although these guys could never maintain a high level throughout each of their albums like skynyrd did, and as such never made a huge comercial impact, they are truly a great band to listen to - their style of music seems to be both fun in places and dark in others. In terms of southern rock, molly hatchet are certainly heavier than people like alman brothers or skynyrd, and actually i think this makes them really interesting.

as for the cd, i have no quibbles with the casing, leaftlet thing etc, all is of good quality, and the music itself is great.

Highlights for me include Gator Country, Flirtin' with disaster, Bloody Reunion, Boogie no more and the creeper, with 'Gator...' and '...Creeper' being probably my personal favourites.

This covers a prolific period - five albums in just over 3 years. It shows the changes in style (from R&B through to "New Wave") and the strength of Graham Parker's songwriting - just listen to the words of You Can't be Too Strong.

At the time many people compared Parker to Elvis Costello, both were equally talented and any Elvis Costello fans would appreciate Parker: some of his earlier R&B is up to Van Morrison standard.

It contains a good selection from the widely acclaimed Squeezing Out Sparks album ( Squeezing Out Sparks). If you were a Parker fan back in the seventies you may go for that first. Why not try this instead, you get the great tracks from SOS plus a whole load of others (at the time of writing at a bargain price).

Thank the lord above for Wyclef Jean feat.Pras Michel & Free!! Without them this would have been an abysmal effort from one of the most overrated moustachioed bunch of baffoons the rock/pop industry has ever produced whoose only appeal is to a gaggle of perm obsessed, musically deprived knitters.

If I had to created a top 10 of the worst songs ever recorded i'd have to think very hard about whether Barcelona was number 1 or 2, its absolutely terrible!!!

I think it is admirable of Wyclef Jean to make this attempt to make Mr Mercury's music . . . . .acceptable.

Avoid it, buy anything else, ever heard Master P and the No Limit Soldiers? Much better!

For those not quite sure on whether or not Eric Clapton is for you, then this album is a good place to start. The eleven tracks on this album from the 70's are indeed some of Clapton's greatest moments despite being during his torrid drug and alcohol abusing days. This is a excellent introduction to Clapton and after listening to it you should know whether the rock/blues style of Clapton is for you. For those who already appreciate Clapton's genius and wish to have a comprehensive compilation album, then you may wish to give "The Cream of Clapton" a listen - it has 19 tracks, 8 more than this album.
