Listening to the Mammas and the Papas was a real nostalgia trip but how I hate CD's with tracks that fade out before they finish, it totally spoils the experience. I have a vision of a man behind the stage at a live performance turning a big volume control down leaving the group playing and singing silently to a bemused audience. Had the tracks all been full length I would have given this CD 4 stars.

I am not a massive Talking Heads fan, but I love 'Remain in Light' and got this Best-of as well to sample all of their other albums at once. However, I am suspicious that this is not a truely representative selection because the three songs from 'Remain in Light' have been so poorly selected. Surely 'Born Under Punches (The Heat Goes On)' and 'Crosseyed And Painless' - absolutely monster tracks - should have taken precedence over the comparatively low-key 'Houses in Motion' and 'This Must be the Place'. Of course, 'Once in a Lifetime' is a shoe-in and appears here in all its glory. Nevertheless, it is poor decisions like this that can make a novice survey the career of a great band and say ... Having bought this album after hearing it playing in the hairdressers (!), I was not dissappointed. There are so many songs I recognised that I didn't even realise were Groove Armada's and there's a real mix of chill out songs along with dance/pop, so whatever mood you're in this album will give you a lift! I don't think this album will ever sound out-dated, it's great!

This is a great album; as soon I listened to the first song I was hooked on this man, I listened to this cd for a month non-stop; his voice has something in it which I could never tire of hearing again and again; every song on here is a gem; Steamroller and Mexico spring to mind as two of the best on this cd; an utter joy to listen to anytime of the day.

I had of course always been aware of the Beach boys, but being a 17 year old brit, they were never top of my 'to listen list'. However I saw a rhcp cover of I get around,liked it, and decided to buy a complation of beach boy songs to take on my summer holiday. Needless to say they are now one of my favourite bands up there with the Ramones and the Beatles.
This compliation, as an introduction, is really good. It has all of the biggest hits. However going back to it now after hearing the likes of Pet sounds, sunflower and all summer long, I cant help but feel that some of the best songs are missing. The likes of 'Wendy', 'All summer Long', and later masterpeices like 'forever' are nowhere to be seen. But as an introduction, this is really good.

I received this great CD for Christmas 2007. I'd never really listened to any of their CDs before, and only ever heard and reconized "Don't Stop Me Now" a few times. But now I am crazy about them and their music: it's so cool and catchy! All the songs are brilliant! You should definetly buy this! It is FAB! And if you don't atleast like them now, you will after listening to this!

This is the best album I've heard in ages! Being a collection spanning Jimy Somemrville's career, it is a real mixture of old favourites and some less well known tracks. To be played loudly at all times and singing along is a must.

As per most of the other reviews of this CD it's a good compilation, for a ridiculously cheap price, however i really only bought this CD for "Solitary Man" and "Girl, you'll be a woman soon". Sadly both tracks are taken from the Live album "Hot August Night", though this is not indicated by the usual "(Live)" on the track listing. So be warned, if you want studio versions of these or "Kentucky woman" which is taken from the album "Gold-Live" look elsewhere.
