Tracks on this album go back 25 years and I loved them then and I still love them now. I am only sorry that Stuart and the boys never got the critical credit and public acclaim they deserved. One of the few bands to keep guitars in the charts in the 80's they never reached the heights of U2 (I remember seeing Stuart Adamson joining Bono and the band at Hammersmith for an encore in 1982/83 I think) but their stirring music appealed to the celt in all of us. Not a duff track on this album representing as it does the heyday of their glorious noise. Don't forget the later albums either, still a cut above anything else out there at the time and still hold good today.

As this is a greatest hits album I knew what I was getting before I bought it so obviously there was no disappointment there. The songs that are on it are great, some of my favourites.
But personally there are so many more songs that I would have liked to be on there. I don't know if the answer is a double album or replacing some of the songs on this album.
It's still a good album though.

If this is the best then what's the worst like? Brilliant musicianship ruined by inane lyrics. Gets two stars by virtue of 'Don't Fear The Reaper.'

I liked the vast majority of this albums songs. All Pearl Jams hits are featured. A few reason why I have not given a 5/5 star review are: The remastered songs (2 on each album). Theyre just not as good as the originals. Also the album structure I feel is not right. Instead of charting PJ's career chronologically (Grunge-Post Grunge etc), songs are placed in what appears to be random order, although the first disk is a lot heavier. Personally I would have done it chronologically, but you cant please everyone! The album cover is a little naff, the sleeves make it difficult to get CD's out of and often the CD's will fall out if your carrying the album about, what was wrong with a hard case?!
Still a great album, although if you have the songs ... Read More:

After one unsuccessful album, Cyndi recorded three albums in the eighties (She's so unusual, True colors, A night to remember) that gave her plenty of success and it is from these three albums that this compilation is mainly assembled. Some of her later albums, though less successful, are well worth hearing but it is the eighties that most people associate with Cyndi.
So, this compilation includes all of Cyndi's important hits of the eighties including Girls just want to have fun, Time after time (later covered by Eva Cassady among others), She bop, All through the night, True colors, Change of heart (with the Bangles on backing vocals), What's going on (a cover of a Marvin Gaye classic) and I drove all night (which also became a top ten UK hit ... I do love this album and my only criticism is that there is not enough from "Henry the Human Fly". My favourite track on that album is The Old Changing Way and I would have liked to have seen that added for one. More than half of the "I want to see the Bright Lights Tonight" album is here and I am sure at least one of those tracks could have been sacrificed to include more of Richards very first solo album. Moan over! A brilliant album from a brilliant singer songwriter and he's British.

The Monkees were two folk singers and two actors pulled together to from a Beatles-lite pop group for mop top hungry American teenagers. Whilst the real fab four were dabbling with drugs, facial hair and musical experimentation, the Monkees offered easy on the ear tunes and whacky 'comedy'. They were derided at the time by serious muscians and the critics ripped into them on a weekly basis.
But time has been kind to the bands musical legacy and, with song writers such as Carole King and Neil Diamond on board, the Monkees are now seen as pioneers. The original manufactured boy band but with added great songs.
'I'm A Believer', 'Pleasant Valley Sunday', 'Last Train to Clarkesville' and the perenial 'Daydream Believer' have stood the test of time extremely ... Read More:
I bought this album on the strength on the one song i heard on the radio " I Cant Make You Love Me" and was suprised to find so many other gems on this album. I really didnt know alot about Bonnie Raitt but i am glad that i do now, she has a really sweet voice and the songs are just beautifull they really seem to hit me where i am at in my life at this present moment.
