One of the things you're generally supposed to say about debuts that you don't think are that good is that they hint at a band's potential and their future direction but if I said that about the Verve's debut it would just be a lie. It's unbelievable that this is the band who several years later would record Urban Hymns, and that's not just because of the difference in the quality of the music but the styles, I never thought it was possible for a band to go from Shoegaze to BritPop, especially not so quickly.
Before I even start to get into the songs one thing I have to say about this album is that I really don't like how Ashcroft's voice is presented, it's buried deep in the mix and surrounded by tonnes of echo; now there are many ... Read More:

Nickelback- The long road
\\\\
With Nickelback in the charts at the moment with their number 3 single Rockstar, many people that like rock will have heard of them. However, the album- The long road is completely different, the first track, Flat on the floor is extremely fast paced and much more intense than some of their later singles (How you remind me and Rockstar).
This album is more heavy rock and grunge than other things in the charts at the moment. This is great if you would like rock to take over the charts once again. Warning! This is not a ¡¥feel good¡¦ album- it contains subjects of dark matter. E.g.
Throw Yourself Away -
Why the hell don't you throw yourself away

Before Pearl Jam and Soundgarden exploded on to the world stage in the early 90's came this well crafted and moving tribute to Mother Love Bone front-man Andrew Wood.
Born out of ideas from Chris Cornell (Wood's room-mate) and Jeff Ament and Stone Gossard (ex-Mother Love Bone), this is an exercise in how to pay hommage to one of your friends.
At times dark and moody, the album is never anything less than reverential toward the memory of Wood but with sincere and poignant pose and grace.
It can be mellow, it can be balls to the wall rock n roll, but with songs as good as "Say Hello to Heaven", "Pushing Forward Back" and the bon-fide grunge classic "Hunger Strike", it doesn't really matter. The music wraps around you, cossets you and takes you away to a different ... Read More:

Sadly, This New Day goes the way later albums tend to - see the most recent offerings from Oasis and Travis for examples - with the band maintaining the ability to turn out some great singles, whilst simultaneously losing the ability to produce original and lasting album tracks.
First, the good points - Nature's Law and Target are amongst the best songs Embrace have ever done, and would sit comfortably alongside Fireworks and Come Back to What You Know on a greatest hits record. The fact that Target's intro is hugely understated, and in some way spoils the track's ability to become a hit, is perhaps down the production, but the chorus is spectacular, and Danny McNamara sounds superb.
Exploding Machines, which was brilliant when I saw them on the pre-album tour, is still excellent. ... Read More:

This is a collection of really well crafted songs, in fact, 'All My Life' is one of my all time favourite songs. The album has great vocals and guitar throughout but what on earth have they done with the drums and bass. Both sound as though they were recorded in a padded cell giving the impression that the drum kit was cobbled together on a budget of less that $100. In my dreams this album was produced by Jimmy Page with Flea on bass and John Bonham on drums. 'One by One' could have been a classic.

Dizzy Up The Girl has an interesting mix of songs, from hits such as Iris, Black Balloon, Slide and Broadway - alongside soft, sentimental songs and raucous, upbeat, feel-good songs. Another album that shows the musical versatility of this long-standing group and the reason why they're still around more than 20 years after first getting together. I can thoroughly recommend this album to new and old fans alike.

I liked the vast majority of this albums songs. All Pearl Jams hits are featured. A few reason why I have not given a 5/5 star review are: The remastered songs (2 on each album). Theyre just not as good as the originals. Also the album structure I feel is not right. Instead of charting PJ's career chronologically (Grunge-Post Grunge etc), songs are placed in what appears to be random order, although the first disk is a lot heavier. Personally I would have done it chronologically, but you cant please everyone! The album cover is a little naff, the sleeves make it difficult to get CD's out of and often the CD's will fall out if your carrying the album about, what was wrong with a hard case?!
Still a great album, although if you have the songs on their original albums stay with them. If your new to ... Read More:

This Album is an absolute must. One of the best albums i own.. and i have to admit i own a lot of albums!
On some albums you find the odd few songs you like, the others you dont and because of that you never listen to .. Thats quite annoying because you know the artist can create such great songs so why is only half the album good !?
But this is different, every song it sheer brilliance, something else, and simply amazing. A truely great band, and a truely great album.
A Must Have For Everyone.

Anyone who reads my reviews will be aware that I have a huge interest in music and I will pretty much give anything a go.
My daughter (again) was playing this album when we were cleaning out her room & I was intrigued. For my sins I didn't actually know who Audioslave were (please forgive ignorance) but as a fan of music that actually has a clear melody line & where the vocals are sung not screamed , I was hooked.
This album is 'easy listening' for those of you who have never heard of Audioslave but I don't mean that in a derogatory way. Quite the opposite ; this album is so good that it doesn't need time to 'grow' on you. It is soft rock mixed with a big dash of incredible guitar playing, great vocals and amazing songs.
It is so good that I've just brought 2 more Audioslave CD's.
