Although this may be Staind's best known album, its not their best. Although it does offer alot in terms of strong messages in songs like 'Open Your Eyes' and 'Waste', the band have brought out better stuff. The only song that I think lets this album down in the slightest is 'Take It'. And that is purley becuase I personaly dont think the song fits in with the rest of the album.

And for all of you that are in two minds as of wether to buy it or not due to negative reviews, keep in mind that in 15 weeks on the US market, this album had sold over 2.9 million copies.

Who We Are [Us Import]

I was very fortunate to have been in the US in June and having been recommended this band many time, picked up this CD. It made me an instant fan which is something coming from my age group. Excellently produced with superb song-writing and consummate musicianship: this album makes me shocked that the UK hasn't picked up on them as a group. Nearly every track is memorable and is one of the few CDs I will listen through from start to finish. From delicious rock rooted tracks (Disarray, The Joke, Bridges) to heart-felt ballads (Learn You Inside Out, Broken, Storm) and all the great songs in between. This is a must-own and has started my Lifehouse collection.

So why on earth has their label not given it a UK release yet?

Out Of Nothing

Until the day I first heard their 'Gravity' single, I must admit that Embrace's music had failed to make any lasting impression upon me. Such was the quality of 'Gravity' however, I decided to give this album a try and I'm glad I did. While it turns out that 'Gravity' was actually written by Chris Martin and cohorts from Coldplay, songs like the anthemic ballad 'A Glorious Day' (my favourite track bar 'Gravity'), the wistfully sung 'Someday', rousing yet tender 'Ashes' and melodic 'Looking As You Are' prove that the band are more than capable of coming up with high quality songs of their own. to any young unpolluted minds/souls out there this sucks! alwys has done! theres no crunch just the smooth disguised as the crunch, dont believe these reviews! listen to funhouse by the stooges or you might end up thinking you enjoy soundgartden and form a crap band, like many others have thought they enjoyed doing, but this is no road to enlightenment, no yellow brick path, no route, 69 its a road to nowhere!

Blackbird

This album along with their first I just can't stop listening to. Vocals, guitar riffs top notch. Composition of all the songs great - even the slower tracks are listenable to.
"Ties That Bind" is stunning.
"Blackbird" takes me back to the earlier days of heavy rock.
I could go on waxing lyrical on the greatness of this album but the easiest thing is to say if you like heavy rock with imaginative well composed tracks with incredible vocals and guitar work - go out, buy it and treasure it!

Karma and Effect

This is definitely Seether's best album. Standout tracks include Because of Me, Remedy, Truth, Burrito, World Falls Away, I'm the One, Simplest Mistake and the final track Plastic Man. The album is incredibly underrated esspecially in the UK. I would say that I hope to see more of the same from them but after their latest album was such a disapointment, this album will probably go down as their best.

Carry On

Chris Cornell's first solo effort Seasons on the soundtrack of Singles is one of my favourite songs. After the wet fart of Soundgarden's Down on the Upside, I was expecting to be blown away by the first full solo album Euphoria Morning. Sadly, CC's flatulence continued. The adventures of Audioslave followed, producing 3 albums. Combining the best songs of these 3 would have made a fantastic, varied album.
Against better judgement, I was hoping CC would write an intense set of songs with the same feel as Seasons or some of his best work writing for Soundgarden, Temple of the Dog and Audioslave. Sadly, I think Carry On is his worst musical work to date. I find it un-listenable at times. Rather than Carry On, it should have been called Follow Through.

i got this when i was at university and for that i will always hold a special place in my heart for it,its blink 182 at their most anthemic,most vital and most fun,its an album that is packed with classic after classic,its impossible not to love songs like dumpweed,dont leave me,aliens exist,the aptly titled going away to college,as i was in another country for university,whats my age again and adams song,the remaining songs are all good as well,there isnt really a bad song on here,it isnt life changing music by any means,and of course all the songs tread the formula that nofx helped create but its all good honest fun,who can complain about that?

well, where do i start, for me personally, this album is head and shoulders above anything, i have ever listened to. (Gish/machina are amazing, i must say) this album encapsulates youth, and the whole spectrum of emotions, for me, there are no fillers, as the cds, are like going on a journey, and all different styles, and moods are used, soft and quiet, love and hate, hope, and despair. If ever an album is a work of genious this is it...thank god, it isnt mainstream, and accessable to everyone, as surely this would mean it wouldnt be half as good. Corgan had loads more songs that he couldnt fit into melloncollie, and these b sides are worthy of an album release independantly(the aeroplane flies high box is cool for these). i bought this for my dad for christmas (not in a bad way!) and he's loving it. I bought it for him because i cant drive and if i have to be stuck in HIS car listening to HIS cds while he takes me somewhere then it's just excellent then we both get something to sing along to.
