I HAVE WANTED THIS ALBUM FOR 34 YEARS!
I COULD NOT AFFORD LOTUS WHEN IT WAS FIRST RELEASED BECAUSE THE COST WAS MORE THAN AN APPRENTICE'S WEEKLY WAGE.
I HAD SEEN SANTANA LIVE TWICE BY THIS TIME SO I KNEW WHAT TO EXPECT.
SOMEONE I KNEW HAD THE ORIGINAL JAPANESE TRIPLE ALBUM WITH FOLD OUT SLEEVE.
ALTHOUGH IT WAS NOT LOOKED AFTER AND SOON TORN INTO SMALL PIECES WHICH I THOUGHT WAS A TRAGEDY.
I HOPE THIS NEW RELEASE HAS A MINI DELUXE SLEEVE.

This album starts, aptly enough, with 'Start Me Up', the song which the Rolling Stones sold to Microsoft in order to keep Keith Richards in drug money. It is a mediocre slice of radio-friendly rock, and easily one of the most underwhelming songs the Rolling Stones have ever released.
'Brown Sugar' sounds like what it is: a completely unashamed rip-off of Rhythm and Blues which was pioneered and perfected by far superior black musicians, whilst 'Harlem Shuffle', originally recorded by Bob and Earl is a tragic and cruel massacre to rival anything planned by Pol Pot or Saddam Hussein. Please just skip it, and listen to the original instead, for your own sakes.
This theme of pilfering black culture leads us nicely onto 'It Only Rock ... Read More:

Well Usually i dont like a band or album because of the vocals, but i dont have that problem with this album cause it's just instrumental awesome rock. This album is filled with great solos and songs. No filler just all killer. If you like rock music and you're curious about this just buy it.
Release Date September 05, 2005
As far as I'm concerned, other than 'Brown Sugar,' you may as well throw the second disc away, or use it to keep your mug of tea on.
But... the first disc is so astoundingly, damned good, that you really don't care!

Neil Young for me has to reign alongside the master music makers of this century or any other, his distinct vocal voice sets him apart from just about anyone.
The weld album taken from the live concert is an utterly superb album that features some very powerful songs that have made Neil young the performer he is. Dylans blowing in the wind has got to be just about the best version I have ever heard of this song. Rockin in the free world, well a classic song that still sends shivers up my spine.
Weld is a true music lovers album, full of power and sentiment, in my humble opinion, one of the best live albums ever made. Neil young, well, a master musician and a master song writer. brilliant stuff.

This CD has recently found its way back into my car & haven't stopped listening to it all week!
I owned it on vinyl for about 10 years before picking up the CD, its been one of my favourite albums for a long long time.
Real hard heavy dirty guitar riffs, Eric Dovers vocals are great (although some of the lyrics aren't the greatest) & Matt Sorum bashing away at the back is fantastic.
This is better than its follow up (Ain't life Grand) which is good, but 5 O'Clock somewhere is a classic album.
Favourite track? all of them lol. But Beggars & hangers on is a classic, written by none other than Duff Mckagan (check out his band Loaded by the way - they rock)
Slash is currently recording his solo album featuring an array of guest vocalists, so keep ... Read More:

This fabulous and very reasonably priced collection contains all The Rolling Stones' Decca (UK) and London (USA) single A- and B-sides. If they originally appeared on 45 in mono (the vast majority) they're in mono here - apart from Honky Tonk Women for some reason. The 2002 remasters finally do justice to this material on CD - they sound fabulous.
The 60s A-sides (with the arguable exception of their debut, Come On) are uniformly brilliant, surprisingly varied and superbly produced, especially after they began recording in the USA; the B-sides, with only 1 or 2 exceptions, are good to excellent. There is surprisingly little overlap with albums (especially UK ones) and where there is, several tracks are in otherwise unobtainable mono. Really, until about halfway through CD 3, this ... This is the most essential of a list of essential Ry Cooder albums. If you only ever buy one of his CDs, make it this one.
I wore the vinyl out and had to buy it again and then I had to buy the CD. Someone borrowed the CD, they moved and I never got it back so I had to buy it again.
The playing is immaculate, it is simply wonderful music. The Mexican influences are great and really bring an extra dimension. This is the culmination of everything RC did before and overshadows everything he has done since.

I really wanted to like this album. Two icons of R&B getting together again to cover some classic tracks. Unfortunately, this album is anaesthetic, tame and bland. Maybe 4 out of the 12 tracks are worth listening to. Clapton mumbles away in the background and spoils perfectly good music with muffled vocals and most of the track choice is at best uninspired.
Probably the notable exception is "Key to the Highway", which, along with "Riding with the King" is among the few highlights of this album. The musicianship is brilliant but it's so TAME!
What this pair need to to is get up on stage with George Thorogood and hammer it out instead of sitting in their rocking chairs telling everyone what fine guitarists they are while they pluck a few fine chords. BB King did it much better with U2. Shame ... Read More:

this soundtrack to the fantastic film doesn't disappoint usually album soundtracks are full of cast off fillers but this album has amazing songs filled with passion vengance to fill your head until sometime next week "bitter and twisted", "just a dream away", "free me", "my time is gonna come" all these songs have hard rocking drum beat, excellent guitar and blistering vocals from the mouth of Roger Daltrey. "bitter and twisted" has some really venomace lyrics and the rest of the lyrics on this album are from the heart and well thought out. and the production of this album is excellent.
