This is the pinnacle of this great band`s work for me. (I think it starts to go downhill with Diver Down and you feel that maybe Eddie and Dave weren`t on the same page about the future).
But hey! Be extremely grateful for this album! It`s just about the greatest, most complete and most compelling collection of hard rock songs and although I actually got into VH via Sammy Hagar stuff (not through choice, just an age thing) this is easily the album I go back to more than any other. It`s as close to a concept-album as VH ever got, and the cover perfectly fits the menace of the songs (it`s William Kurelec`s "The Maze" if you`re interested).
How can you be anything other than deliriously happy from the moment "Mean ... Read More:

Bloody hell! This guy can play guitar. I'm well aware of many fantastic guitarists (Clapton, Hendrix, May, Gilmour, Marr, Satriani, etc), but Steve Vai is something else. Never have I heard such speed, precision and clarity.
'Juice' is just sublime, and 'Tender surrender'? Beautiful. 'Ya-Yo Gakk' features a riff based around his infant son's baby speak, and 'Bad Horsie' shows Vai playing his guitar like a furious Mustang.
If you want to hear a guitar talk, then check out Steve Vai, who, in this humble reviewers opinion, is absolutely second to none. (Let the arguments commence!).

I knew the obvious Zep tracks (Stairway to Heaven, Whole Lotta Love, etc) and keep hearing about how good this band is, so I bought this compilation. Apart from the hand-full of well-known tracks, most of the tracks on here are very poor - repetitive, unimaginative and self-indulgent. Several tracks 7,8 even 10 minutes long, with the same riffs just repeating over and over again; they might have been OK as 3 minute songs, but stretching them out just shows how little there is to them.
If this is the best they can come up with as a compilation, I'd hate to hear the tracks that were left off.
Maybe they are just an acquired taste, or maybe they are just overrated.

This album always makes me smile when I stick it in the cd player. It's a fast paced rock album with plenty of 80's influence in too. If you like good old fashioned 'cheesy' rock then you'll enjoy this album! I bet you turn it up just a notch too!
Release Date May 16, 1990
This is a very frustrating Album as the good parts are superb and the rest very poor making it so disjointed.
Four songs make this Album worthwhile with the first 2 Absolute Lizzy Classics :
Angel of Death - Hard Rocking Lizzy at their best- Superb
Renegade-My Favourite Lizzy Track-Dark and Deep and superbly balanced between a delicate ballad and out right Rock Song.
It's getting Dangerous - Lynotts lyrics on this and chorus are now so obvious of the internal tormment and demons of the guy. This is a very emotionally charged song and phils vocals excel with feeling in what we all know now was a sinister cry for help.
Acceptable -Hollywood-A great Song emphasising perhaps Lizzy fortunes at the time. ... Read More:

It's hard to describe why this is not great, but i am going to try as it seems to be a rule on Amazon to only review items you like. I have a copy of Slang, which I like, and i thought i would go back to the beginning and work through the albums in chronological order (which works for me normally) but after this, i won't be bothering with the rest. It's just not very good.
Release Date July 22, 2002
Great album, let down by some lame copy protection which means that it isn't recognised by my computer so it can't be ripped for MP3 player listening.
Release Date October 01, 1999
After what seemed to be an eternity of waiting, Alice was back!! and this time gone was the chorus ridden cheese of the last two albums. He was Alice again! the villain we all loved. Side show starts this nightmare carnival running, nothings free a true epic and bad place alone is fiendish fun! it sounds as if he's ressurected the original magic of the Alice cooper band!! this album is a testament of true legend!
Release Date October 01, 1999
Just got hold of this second-hand after wearing the tape out. This is a fantastic piece of hard melodic rock that knocks bands like Bon Jovi into touch. The lead singers voice is fantastic, and the music is just breathtaking. Buy this if you have any interest in rock music. You will not be disappointed.

To the UK public, Aerosmith might as well not have existed until the 1980s, when Run DMC got them to feature on a cover of one of their own songs. But you can forget all that stuff they've done since. The early albums of the 1970s are the real deal. If you listen to the first track of this 1973 debut, you'd be hard pushed to identify it as an Aerosmith song. This is r&b in a heavy rock style, chunky guitars, basic, right down to forgettable song titles like 'Somebody.' It's solid right through though. Like many debut albums, it doesn't stand out in terms of style. The band had yet to forge a sharp identity; they achieved that on their third album, 'Toys In The Attic.'
As is also often the case with hard rock bands, their breakthrough US hit was the one ballad ... Read More:
