MeatLoaf + Jim Steinman = a must have album!
I'm a huge fan of MeatLoaf and have been for nearly 10 years and hearng this album for the first time blew me away. "Bat 2" blasts along for well over an hour with pure rock genius. Jim Steinman's song writing really works well with MeatLoaf's style of singing.
It's a worthy following to "Bat 1" so-much-so that it won a grammy!
If you're a MeatLoaf fan you would be mad not have this in your collection. If you're not...you don't know what you've been missing all this time!!

Maybe they just became too popular but I 'discovered' Bon Jovi through the pages of Kerrang alongside Metallica and Iron Maiden. Back then these bands were almost taboo in the media and it was a relatively small club of people who followed heavy rock. They knew there was an honesty about the music they liked that gave a strong identity (to being a heedbanger). Bon Jovi pushed the commercial appeal of their music after this album losing an edge in favour of mass pop appeal. Their choice but they lost a bit of credibility.
So I would recommend this album to anyone who got into Bon Jovi latterly and have missed this album so far, it may not have an ultra glossy finish but has great songs and that youthful energy so many bands have on their first ... Read More:

I picked this CD up a few weeks ago but only today have i got round to playing it.
I love Bon Jovi and i do own a lot of their albums, one word for me describe's this 2002 release --- Tremedious!.
Rarely would i rate all of the songs on a disc 5/5 but they are so good, beautiful, catchy, awesome and only Bon Jovi could produce such an album. It's a winner and no wonder it did as good as it did on the charts.
If i had to pick my personal favorite songs it would be a difficult task but i do love "Joey", "Undivided", "The Distance", "Everyday" but in fact i'm fond of all the songs and i know that this is an album that i will be playing over and over again for a long time to come.
It's such a strong album and one that i think ... Read More:

Just thought I would add to the praise by saying that this is up there with the best rock albums of all time: unlike Hysteria, this has no duff tracks, every song is brilliant. Rock of Ages still makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up...Billy's got a Gun is one of the Lep's best lyrics...and Photograph is the perfect pop/rock single.
The only downside to this album - like all truly great albums - is that you are forever in mourning that the band cant recreate the feat (I've just bought sparkle lounge!!). But celebrate one of the finest records ever made.

This is a damned fine album. I mean, notwithstanding the fact that it's 'Ecky and not Icky Thump, added to the fact that I am slightly bored with the concept of The White Stripes and wasn't exactly excited to hear that Jack & Meg were releasing a new album in 2007, the content of this album - or at least the majority of it - has won me over. There are plenty of songs on this album that would easily fit alongside the best output of 'White Blood Cells' or 'Elephant' and hearing that they had gone back to the hard-edged, bluesy style they excel at was pleasing.
Straight away, when I heard the lyrics of the title track, especially the lines;
"White Americans, what?/Nothing better to do?/Why don't you kick yourself out?/You're an immigrant ... Read More:

All I can say to anyone reading this is dont delay, buy this album now. It is simply the best release by a British band for years. I am a massive Funeral For A Friend fan, and havent felt as excited about a band/release since Casually Dressed.
The songwriting is immense, with riff after riff, and melodies as big as Brazil, if this band aren't huge by 2009, then music is truly in a sorry state. Musically its all there great guitar work, drumming precision and complex bass patterns, topped off with Ryans exquisite soaring vocals.
I've seen them live and Ryan is one of the most charismatic of front men, and impassions the music, and hell they are just the nicest guys.
Dont delay send off your £ 8 now and prepare to have Exit Ten as ... Read More:

I love this album it has so many clasic(in my opinion of cours). There is only one track that doesnt really stand out which is the last track but the rest are amazing. The best are Another life (what a solo i can't get over how good it is), Killers, Murders In A Rue Morgue, Wrathchild & Purgatory. This is an awesome start to Iron Maiden who in my opinoion are one of the best bands ever. I must admit this is alot better then their debut though the debuts brilliant it's not as good as this. UP THE IRONS!!!!!

... I reckon Jimi would be saying "no no guys - the stuff I was working on before I left was even better than this stuff!!!".
I do feel that the direction Jimi was taking in the first light of the 70s would have solidified him as THE pre-eminent recording artist of his time. As it stands - we are only left with tantalising glimpses of his future, unrealised, creations (i.e. "first rays of the new rising sun").
I won't bother repeating all of the superlatives that others have bestowed in these review. Suffice to say - he was inventive, imaginative (wildly so), fabulously talented, charismatic, and peerless. As a recording artist - I think his is the greatest loss of all the 'legends' of yore - as he probably hadn't nearly peaked in terms of his writing ... Read More:

If I had to choose one album to be stranded on a desert island with it this is it. A band and producer at the very top of their game, setting the standards for the rest to envy. Simply majestic.
Release Date August 20, 2007
I loved his voice on American Idol and felt he was similar in may ways to Rob Thomas - just with a harder/rockier edge, so idly bought this album, not expecting too much. I was happily surprised - the album is well put together and the songs are perfectly delivered. You will find yourself playing this over and over again. My one disappointment was the irrelevant appearance of Slash on one song - his guitar playing may be good elsewhere, but I feel unnecessarily ruined the track with a gratuitous piece of self indulgence. Overall though it is well worth a listen.
