Release Date October 22, 2007
This album has been the subject of lukewarm critical review and it's not hard to see why, it's probably the most difficult album to categorise and get a handle on the music industry has seen in a while. Don't believe them though, this album is inspired.
From Empty Walls in this album delivers blow by blow the strange, unique, witty and angry presence of Serj Tankian and he's not pulling any punches. This album can make you feel mournful, angry, contemplative and elated in one sitting and will always leave you wanting more. Elect the Dead *is* hard listening and even the most dedicated previous System fans might take time to adjust to it but once you've managed to get it in to your head it'll never leave.

A beautiful record that I never tire of listening to. It has been with me a long time - my favourite record alongside Nirvana Unplugged - and has a terrific soothing quality.
The only thing I would question is the inclusion of "Ignoreland" which hints at their later political actions but does little to complement the album's mood of brooding but optimistic introspection.
Strangely, perhaps, I'm not a big fan of "Everybody Hurts" either. But the rest of the album is sheer brilliance, and more than the sum of its parts. "Sweetness Follows" and "Nightswimming" in particular are sublime.
The band would never be the same after Bill Berry left, witness his input into songs like "Find the River", probably my favourite track of all time.

I only discovered this band about a year ago and this album is without doubt my favourite of the moment (and I've been playing it for a year now!). Every song is excellent. Rock music you can sing along to!
Release Date May 23, 2005
I was slightly apprehensive about the CD that had just been bought. Having read some of the song titles I thought this might be just a mish-mash of, well, "rubbish" rock.
However, after hearing the first track, I found that I was enjoying it. The drums provided a nice beat and the guitar parts were great. The lyrics were sometims challenging to hear, but with a lyrics book it was fine. The hard-hitting opening guitar was refreshing and they had some great material.
Lines like: "I've got an arrogance down to a science", "The best part of believe is the 'lie'" and lots of others, really stuck in my mind and the songs delivered lots of stimulation and greatt listening for me.
The real knock-out songs for me were: "Dance, Dance", ... Read More:

I bought this awhile back on the strength of the title track i wasn't dissapointed at all each track is brilliant and has a very good meaning to it. My favourite are Stand Up And Shout, Holy Diver, Don't Talk To Strangers, Invisible, Rainbow In The Dark & Shame On The Night basically the whole album. The solos are brilliant dio's vocals are awesome (obviously). The Interview is very interestibng to listen to, the booklet is great aswell. A great album deffinetly recommend you buy this. Nazareth like ther bands before Uriah Heep etc only found themselves the butt of many jokes by the UK press over so many comparisons with other legendary acts before they hit the scene but where warmly appreciated in the US and rest of Europe but this decent best of highlights the emotive tones in Dan McCafferty alcohol nicotened soaked vocals which swings from the rawk to the sensitive as highlighted on bad bad boy and love hurts combined with the effortless guitarsmanship from Jimmy Murrison, steady basslines from Pete Agnew and the effective drumming from the late sweet keeps the band in check which is no surprise they had celebrity fans in Axl Rose who covered hair of the dog for the patchy spaghetti incident album.

I saw Yes play this set of some of their best music just after they had released Close To The Edge, when Bill Bruford left to join King Crimson and Alan White joined. This live album was originally released as a triple LP adorned with a new set of Roger Dean paintings to accompany the music. The remastered double CD can only reproduce the art as an insert but the music is as good as ever and captures the group at their peak with the definitive line-up of Anderson, Squire, Howe, Wakeman and White (who ably replaced Bruford). Highlights include a great rendition of Perpetual Change and probably the best version of Yours Is No Disgrace I've heard with Wakeman in full flow on his banks of keyboards. It captures the sheer magnificence of their music in its heyday.
