There are so many great tracks on this album that this could easily be a best of! The unplugged format is perfect for Neil Young and really shows his songs off in their best light and his voice goes just perfectly with acoustic guitar. This is where I began my love of Neil Young and I really believe it is a great starting point in his music and style before delving deeper into his other albums. A great album.

A lot of fans and critics enjoy using the term `the Springsteen canon' when it comes to discussing the highs and (very few) lows in The Boss' career. When it comes to The Rising, the canon is very much filled with some of the finest gunpowder around.
Simply put, this is one of Springsteen's best.

The hype that surrounded the album's release focused on his first full recording with the equally legendary E-Street band and of course, the fall-out from 9/11. 'Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son' is the first Iron Maiden album I ever bought (quickly followed by everything before or since!) and I have to say it is one I still love after all these years. From the racing album opener 'Moonchild' to storming tracks such as 'Evil That Men Do', 'Clairvoyant' and 'Infinite Dreams' and more besides, this album produces one amazing song after another. In fact I'd go so far to say that this is one of those rare albums where every track is worthy of inclusion and adds to the overall feel of the album. Actually, what's this? DP Mk III? I know there's metal dudes out there that only listen to the MK2 albums, some guys actually prefer the first 3 albums, I'm not fussy, I like songs from all the ages of Purple. But I've gotta tell you, this album beats them all. There's no squealing from Gillan, it's the souls of David Coverdale (I love Whitesnake) and Glenn Hughes (buy all his solo albums from 90's onwards), Jon Lord's got a green card to go nuts and Ian Paice rides his mule into hell on the title track. Unlike the previous albums, All these songs are killers. Deep Purple were always funky. Burn and Stormbringer underline this fact with the best two rock vocalists around! I borrowed this off my sister, and i really like it is a bit off a grower you start to notice some awesome songs. Every one know the classic Blitzkrieg Pop dont they? if you havnt heard anything by the ramones before and i wanna get an album buy this it's all you really need by them great stuff.

Wolfmother

Take a large measure of Led Zeppelin, a tablespoon of Hendrix, a teaspoon of Black Sabbath and a pinch of White Stripes and you have Wolfmother. Maybe not terribly original but the nods are respectful. One of the best albums I've heard in a long time. Play loud while wearing velvet loons and lennon glasses.

Ultra Beatdown

Saw these guys live in October, and I was hugely impressed. They played the London Astoria like it was Wembley Stadium, with huge great ramps and cameras doing close-ups on the guitar solos.

If you haven't come across these guys on Guitar Hero as yet they are the masters of anthemic power metal, with absurdly fast duelling guitars, choruses made from 100% pure cheese, and a keyboard player with one of these keytars like Jean Michel Jarre used to play for his solos. This record and all of their others sound like they should have been release in about 1984 but I find it seriously heartwarming that people still make music like this. In an age when most modern metal if angst ridden misery, this is all about fun, and that's got to be a good thing.

I had never been a fan of Marilyn Manson and have always been dubious of 'greatest hits' albums, but when I bought this album - it changed my perception of both.
Mr Manson's rasping voice goes down extremely well with the heavy rock music. The collection of songs on the album have been well chosen and do just justice to his career to date. I have had this album in my car for the last 3 years and it is not likely to leave there any time soon. This is a definite one to purchase.

Having been there at the start, and buying every album up to Physical Graffiti, for some reason I stopped there. Doh!

This one is real down home basic Zeppelin through and through. If you listen to the progression of their work from the first album (originally raved over but much over-rated in my view) through II (for me the first real uniquely Zeppelin album), through III, IV, HOTH and Phys Graf you can clearly see the development, ever more Zeppelin and confident.

This one seems to be the culmination of that progression - no need to pose or strut or stray into experimental territory - they just know what it is they do well, and they just get on and do it.
