Like Fleetwood Mac's 'Rumours', 'Born In The USA' became the artist's biggest album because it appealed to a much wider audience than earlier material did. It was commercial. So what? There's nothing wrong with appealing to more people by making your music more accessible. Bruce Springsteen's previous album 'Nebraska' may possess greater snob value because, wow, it's dark and stripped down, but there is no disguising that much of it is also dull. As Tommy James commented when criticised for creating 'Mony Mony' at the height of the revolutionary, anti-war sentiments of 1968, why can't you make people want to dance?
The most obvious slice of glossy pop is, of course, 'Dancing In The Dark' and it soon palls, but nothing else is as ... Read More:

What can I say about this album that hasn't been said a thousand times before. I grew up with this album - it was the record (my first copy was on vinyl) that introduced me to hard rock and heavy metal.
The songs as a whole, the lyrics, the vocals, the playing (especially Slash's guitar, of course) are the stuff of legend - there can be no-one who hasn't heard at least one track from this album. Over 20 years after its first release this album remains fresh and contemporary - it is an essential addition to any decent record collection. The impact this record made cannot be overstated - hard rock and metal were huge in the late 80s and early 90s and this album was by far and away the biggest of the bunch.

Yep, Aerosmith have released many many greatest hits albums. I think this one has the best mixture of tracks of the lot though, a range of all their hits starting from way back. Some fantastic songs.
Highly recommended if you've only heard a limited amount of Aerosmith music, as it'll give you the pick of the best of the rest, and you may well decide to look into their more obscure stuff.

This was the first My Chem album I bought. I was pulled in by "Teenagers" and "Welcome to the black parade" immediatly, but I actually took the plunge and bought the album two years after it's release. If I hadn't bought it that day, I don't know where I'd be now.
THIS CD ROCKS!!! BUY IT NOW!!!

I have to admit I am a little out of touch with modern music, I like what I know and that does me fine. However on a random trip to my local record store I couldn't help but tap my feet as I walked round. I didn't know who it was playing through the store speakers but loved their upbeat cheeky sound so curiousity got the better of me and I had to go ask a shop assistant. "Fall Out Boy" she said. Nope, sorry never heard of them, but I still went directly to the shelf and bought this album. I absolutely love it, can't stop playing it, it's on my ipod and accompanies me to work, I have it on in the background when I'm doing the housework and I even play it when I'm working out.
A great album, loads of catchy tunes and even better songs you can sing along to whilst you imagine yourself ... Read More:

I think that ZZ Top are a very good band and they remain one of my favorite bands of all-time. this is one great collection and they made great blues music in the 1970s and the 1980s. here are my comments about most of the songs. GIMME ALL YOUR LOVING this is a really great song and is my 2nd favorite song on the entire cd. SHARP DRESSED MAN this is pretty great too, but probably my 5th favorite. ROUGH BOY is a ballad that is too slow and too sad for me. TUSH is an excellent blues rocker remains one of my 5 favorites on this album. MY HEAD'S IN MISSISSPII is a blues rocker one of my favorites, PEARL NECKLACE not my fave, IM BAD IM NATHIONWIDE this is pretty good although remains as a 10th favorite or something. I AINT CRAZY ABOUT VIVA LAS VEGAS, DOUBLEBACK is a pretty good hard blues rocking song ... Read More:

This album is really good. Come on - as if you didn't already know that! With the Foo Fighters there is a certain level of quality that you expect- and they always deliver.
The BEST songs on the album are 'Breakout'(I Love the screaming!), 'Learn To Fly'(A pop song, but still good), 'Live-Skin'(A good song for various reasons). There are other songs that are good as well. Such as 'Gimme Stitches', 'M.I.A, ect. but the first three songs I mentioned are really good and you will remember them for years to come.
The album only has a few bad songs which suffer from being very boring('Generator').
The album also has some acousic(y) songs to offer such as 'Next Year' and 'Ain't It the Life'. So basically, if you like the Foo Fighters - buy this album!!

I was impressed with the album before this one Slippery When Wet so I was eager to hear this one, a friend got it before me on cassette tape and lent it to me, I was very disappointed, I thought it sounded like they had just got a six pack of beer and an acoustic guitar and written a load of uninspired dribble, my opinion was cemented when later I heard an interview with John Bon Jovi where he actually said that thats how they write songs, ".... yeah we just get a six pack an an acoustic guitar and just party mann..." I later found out that the hit's on the previous album were written by professional song writers who they've never used again. think about it.

While I agree that there may be more comprehensive Clash sets available (my personal favourite being 'The Story Of The Clash Volume 1') this release does exactly what it says on the tin. All the singles, though not in chronological order - unlike the previous 1991 version, combined with far improved artwork. And it is this that sold me on this CD.
The colourful booklet has been designed with care and features notes from the great and good on each track. Everybody from Pete Townsend to Danny Boyle and many inbetween, get to comment on their favourites and the impact these tracks had on them. Single sleeve artwork and illustrations adorn the liner notes together with some fine shots of the band. All in a slip-sleeved jewel case. And for once, no grammatical mistakes seem to have been made (far too common ... Read More:
