Hawkwind. The first Album. Think of the early seventies. No group like them. More progressive than the Floyd and while Floyd stabilised, Hawkwind tore at your ears. Music and Art screaming for head room and moulded into a direction. There is no single sound here and each track is it's own package. This was Hawkwind checking the boundaries. A must for fans.

is there another album cover that screams 'vulgar display of power'?
unlike many other bands, who's 2nd album seems to flop dearly, Pantera's second album (or 6th, if you count the self-relased ones), is metal at its most powerful, devestating, and angry state. Songs like Mouth for war, Walk, This Love (absolutely NOTHING to do with the Maroon 5 song of the same name, thank you very much), and a new level have monster riffs and vocals; but the entire album is listenable without skipping any songs. Phil Anselmo's voice without the high pitched wails suits the music well.
if you like the watered down 'metal' of today (i.e. avenged sevenfold, trivium) you will probably think it too angry and heavy. However, if you like Megadeth, ... Read More:

I've often found Motorhead albums a bit middlin', a bit one-dimensional, (excepting `Another Perfect Day' which is extraordinary) but often boasting 2 or 3 exceptional songs which usually find their way as singles releases.
Wouldn't it be sweet then, if some-one out there on Planet Motorbonce, decided in their wisdom, to compile said startling moments, and lash `em on a double cd.
Which is just what they've done. `Best of', (yes, I have had a chuckle at that title) is both a splendid retrospective of the groups ferocious history, and a top sampler for any coy popsters currently pondering whether to immerse themselves in that fantastic swirling, murky Motortop sound.
There's no way to describe it in print, unless you start going down the `whoarrrrgggghhh!!' ... Read More:

Just in case you're not aware, this CD is a "remake" of the Exodus debut LP, Bonded by Blood. It features the current Exodus line up responsible for the last few Exodus records including singer Rob Dukes. I bought Bonded By Blood when it was released, and I thought it was amazing alongside the other thrash classics. However, I don't believe it stood the test of time, particularly Paul Bailoff's vocals. Exodus went on to make some great CD's with Steve Souza and it's great to see them back over the last few years. I know Paul has gone and we wont criticise the dead, but Rob Dukes is superb, the production is 100% better and the band have over 20 years experience. This CD works on all fronts - If you loved Bonded by Blood and you want to hear it given a breath of life, or if your ... Read More:

I thought i was the only one who had heard of this album, it sounds like the band was going somewhere, good line up, dirty guitars with coverdales blues coming through. I would of liked to see what the next album would sound like, yeh tommy and drugs don't mix but what history was made with this.... propably the most under rated recording in the world

I tend to agree with Mikey all this pontification about what Tool songs mean or don't mean or whether tool is a metaphor for living a certain way blah blahblah is pointless. I am a massve Tool fan and have seen their musical scale and scope grow since the early nineties into what has to be said a fantastic album in 10,000 days which is a real grower unfairly criticised by a lot of you on Amazon early on release but......... I don't hang on their every word, know all their views on climate change, when they were born or whether they talk in riddles and nor do I look for little gimmicky types of hippyesque quotes or stuff from the band. The most important thing is that the music is so unique that it moves you just like opera does. I can't speak Italian or understand the lyrics of some ... Read More:

I grew up in the 70s, my son Ryan always said how unique it is that you were there sorta in the making. I have to tell you Zeppelin has the kind of hard hitting power that to me has become a true legend. It was the party music, love making music, fighting drinking or whatever the mood you may be experiencing, Zeppelin can take you there. I for one have always given a full 5 stars to the originality & stage power I have been fortunate enough to enjoy through the years. I still find myself a frequent listener.

Back in the dark days of the early 1970s, as a callow youth just having started college, and already set in my musical tastes (basically Bowie and nothing else), I roundly poopooed my younger brother's propensity for what I thought was plain "Weird" Music (Van Der Graaf Generator, Colosseum, The Groundhogs et al), whilst at the same time sneaking a listen whenever he wasn't around.
What was I thinking of? With the benefits of age, experience and a solid burst of nostalgia, also via the fantastic medium of Compact Audio Disc, I have revisited all the old haunts of my youth (in a musical respect), and have been surprisingly delighted by the quality of the work passing through my ears.
None better than The Groundhogs, in actual fact. Me and "my mates" of the time thought ... Read More:

3 CDs Led Zeppelin live in pristine sound quality is a dream come true. This is vintage and true Page-Plant-Jones-Bonham. CD 1 proves it all.
CDs 2 and 3 show indeed why punk treated them as dinosaurs: over-indulgent, boring, too long versions alternate with a few gems (Dancing days, Rock 'n' roll).
These and all the CD 1 tracks could have made a world class single live album.

In a good year for Symphonic Black/Death Metal, with excellent releases from the likes of Haggard, Hollenthon, Therion and even a touch of the strings on Judas Priest's Nostradamus, this is another fine addition!
Far less gimmicky and WAY more intense, than the underwhelming Thornography, this is a return to the cinematic scope of 2003's Damnation And A Day. There is much in terms of bombastic orchestration to be enjoyed - provided by keyboard/synth but none the less impressive for this. In fact, it's rivalled only by the sterling keyboard work on Epica's Divine Conspiracy in it's recreation of a real orchestral style sound. Haunting choral work is also present to chill and unease.
The production is lavish, yet never loses sight that this IS Metal. Furious bass drums, harsh riffs and the ... Read More:
