I bought this album as it was the last one I needed to complete my collection and I was impressed with the video for "Since I Don't Have You".
Unfortunately after that song the album turns very bad indeed with another 11 songs to trawl through. I have tried many times but can't get to the end.
A highlight of the album is Axl's funny English accent on "Down On The Farm". I don't know what to make of the song but it's very funny. I thought Nazareth's "Hair Of The Dog" might be quite good as the Britny Fox version is excellent. Sadly again I was dissapointed and it is the worst of the three versions available. This was the first Rammstein album I ever bought and it remains my favourite to this day. If you're new to Rammsteins sound this is definetely the album to start with from the slower songs like "Spieluhr" and "Spiel Mit Mir" to the epic riffs of "Mein Herz Brennt" this album is amazing and has a song for all moods. Dominant tracks include "Mutter" and "Sonne" but end ones like "Zwitter" are great as well. As soon as you hear the opening chords to "Mein Herz Brennt" with that orchestre you'll just immerse yourself into the album. The price too is good, as I normally see it priced up to £15 in HMV. For new fans listen to a few tracks on YouTube then buy this album - its worth it.

I'm new to Gojira and can't quite believe how bone crushingly brilliant this album is. Mastodon would appear to be a major influence and that's no bad thing. Fans of Blood Mountain will love this. Gojira are no clone though and stamp their own identity all over your face. From start to finish it's a brutally heavy rib-snapping tour de force.

Don't take drugs. Let Hawkwind take them for you. This was definitely the turning point. Riffs, chants, sounds, Space lyrics and in the middle of it all is the madness of 'Adjust Me'. Including the fan fave 'Master of the Universe' plus bonus single 'Silver Machine' and B-side '7 by 7' this could be all you need to begin your Hawkwind journey. Originally released in 1971, the Hawkwind had risen from the underground and were claiming ground on the surface. Fantastic!

This was the first Metallica album I bought, after being blown away by the 'Until it Sleeps' video. I was about to hit my teens at the time, and I remember all the bad press surrounding it at the time, but couldn't for the life of me understand why everyone had such a problem with a fantastic album. Although after hearing the 80's stuff, I soon realised why some of the thrash purists might have found 'Load' a bit hard to swallow (arf arf).

However, just because it's different doesn't necessarily mean that it's bad. Far from it. After the trademark thrash sound of the first 4 albums and the Pantera-esque metal stomp of 1991's 'Black Album', Metallica took a bold move with their forray into alternative rock. It shows them at their BEST on songs like Out ta Get Me and Welcome to the Jungle and My Michelle is just awesome, but it also shows them at their most over the top bloated self-parodying selves on songs such as November Rain(a classic, no doubt, but GN'R were meant so save ROCK, not Elton John for christ's sake) and the totally ruined funk-fest of Move to the City, what the hell had they done to a song that used to rock in the early days and was now full of overblown horn solo's. Axl took the blame at the time, his crazy ego and all that, but Slash has since admitted it was his idea, not that this makes it okay though, it still sucks.

Wake The Sleeper

Head First was the last Heep album I bought. Not paid any attention to them since then, but reading reviews here at Amazon, I took the plunge and bought Awake The Sleeper.

Good job I took the advice on offer, because this is a good, solid listen and so nearly a 5 star effort.

Good mixture of new and old sounds here, with that great Heep-unique organ accompanying songs throughout. It rocks from start to finish, but a special mention for What Kind of God, which is classic Heep to these ears.

Lads, don't think about drawing your pensions yet : there's obviously life in you all still!

Before buying this album, I was familiar with the 'big' songs from it, however after a few listens i have come to appreciate the true raw talent behind it; suffice to say im very happy with the purchase!! the case was delivered with a crack however, which is not the first time from Amazon to me.

But after coming across this album's version of "Nothing Else Matters" on Kerrang! TV, I was shocked and also intrigued by what else the album may have in store.
Now, most people know Metallica as one of the most influencial and outstanding metal bands of all-time, so when fans heard that they would be combining themselves with the San Francisco Symphony, as you can imagine, assumptions were made before they music was even heard.
