As far as I'm concerned, "Witness" is THE British hip hop anthem; a razor blade-ripped cyclone of a track, ideal for Roots Manuva to rap about beans on toast over (yes, it's that lyrical reference again). The rest varies from quite good to good. "Ital Visions" and "Evil Rabbit" predate Burial by a good five years when it comes to transferring the atmosphere of a rain-soaked London night into sound; in fact, save for the intro, the whole 60 minutes is loaded with heaviness, with mechanical clicks, robosynths and even the occasional sample (there's like 2 on the whole record...), with a sound not unlike Cannibal Ox's The Cold Vein. Reanimation

To call this album a 're-mix' of Hybrid theory, would be like saying the Mona Lisa is just 'a painting'. It's a completely successful re-working of a masterpiece and in this day and age, that's an extremely rare thing.

This album is probably my favourite out of all Linkin Park's albums, and I almost feel a little disappointed that the band haven't done similar follow up albums to 'Meteora' and 'Minutes to Midnight'. (But I still am holding on to the hope that they will!).

My favourite tracks have to be Pts. OF Athrty and Krwlng. These tracks give the original songs a complete different sound and feeling to them. A master class in originality, and I know it's been said to death in all the other reviews, but it just shows what a talented bunch ... Read More:

American Boy

I never really took much notice of Estelle when she released the single '1980' a few years back because i felt it had too much rap in it for my liking, it's only now that i've become a lot more involved with her, this single is probably why, and i also think the fact that she has switched lables to John Legend's new US label has helped her career considerably. 'American Boy' is a super memorable and catchy dance track with elements of pop/funk and hip/hop infused and also has a techno/disco edge. It features hugely successful guest rapper Kanye West who really makes a great fitting addition to the song.

The Sound Of Bassline

I agree with "sir cheese" in many respects. I too have been on the bassline scene for a few years, when you would only really hear it up north and the mainstream used to say you had to be on something to listen to 'that' type of music! lol. So the fact that it has made it to this level does make me happy to see.

The advert was a great marketing tool, I had been searching for "Chemistry" by Dezz Jones and Gia Mia since it was big in the clubs a couple of years ago, but never been able to find it, so this sold it for me really. But i too was duped!!! Yes there are some classic anthems, for me these include ("lately", "smile", "come on over" etc - all very vocal anthems) but there is also too much rubiish to be honest. I've given this 3 stars out of respect for all musicians who are brave enough to think outside the box and try something a bit different. Each to their own, but I also can't get my head round the number of 5 star reviews. I grade music on the basis of how it moves me. Does it lift me out of my favourite armchair and take me to another place? I'm happy to let any type of music do the job. Faust, Can, Tangerine Dream, Radiohead, Lambchop all provide me with the vehicle to leave my wife and kids for a while and return a hour or so later, refreshed and ready to do the washing up. I've not heard anything else by Boards Of Canada but 'The Campfire Headphase' sounds like a new band who have just got together and aren't sure where they're going. They need some guidence. G. Love & Special Sauce

I listened to this album first in 1996 at university. It belonged to a friend, but I went straight out and bought it, I liked it that much. Sat about on the grass on campus we, my friends and I, spent many a Summer afternoon doing very little, chilling out to the laid-back music of G. Love & his Special Sauce.
I like the album's catchiness, 'Baby got Sauce' immediately entered into my 'favourite tracks ever' list, but 'Cold Beverage' was the track of the holiday for us all. Lemonade & a double scoop...
I lent this album out and never recieved it back, annoyingly, but recently re-bought it and reacquainted myself with all my old favourites. This album makes me smile from the opening bars. Not just out of nostalgia, but because it is upbeat, funky and cheekily humerous. ... Read More:

One of the most moving and albums i've heard in a long time that has a perfect blend of hip hop, rap and truly soulful tunes that really make you want shake that booty. My favourite track has to be the seed which i've played over and over again and just can't get enough of. To all you hip hop, body shaking lovers out there, this album is a must! xx
